Hey all,

I was an idiot this morning rushing out of my garage and accidentally hit my driver side mirror against the side of my garage door.

The actual mirror is still intact however the plastic casing surrounding it has cracked :( The control mechanism inside still works fortunately.

May I ask what's the cheapest method I can get it repaired? A friend has suggested I try to source the part and replace it myself. I don't mind this option as I'm pretty good with my hands but I don't know anything about sourcing car parts. Really want to avoid taking it to the dealership for repair if I can because I know they'll charge me an arm and a leg :(

Edit: Sorry, it's a 2009 Civic VTI

Thanks guys!

Whereabouts are you located? Perhaps contact a honda wrecker near you and get a replacement and wack it on yourself. Honda will charge you a fortune for a new oem part.

Who are the "wreckers"...? I'm not familiar with this terminology hehe... how do I go about finding them and getting a quote or something from them? Are they just smash repairs?

I got a call from Trivett Honda and they quoted me a price for the mirror cover part, but it's unpainted.

try ebay for simple stuff like mirrors..... my mate had a broken euro mirror and ended up finding one from japan or something for like $30 including shipping...... the wrekers wanted like 220 :S

no, there not a smash repairs lol, they take cars that hav been smashed up beyond repair n sell it in parts, i think there also known as auto parts recycling. just look them up in the yellow pages n hopefully they will hav 1 in ur colour so u dont hav pay 2 hav it painted also

otherwise known as "auto parts recyclers" through yellow pages or similar.

if you search on yellow pages many of them are Japanese vehicle specialists who are much more likely to have the part you require.
