To cut a long story short,my Mum reversed into my Euro,by mistake of course, and has badly scratched the right rear bumper.

I will need to get it resprayed, and will probably have it done through insurance.

Must they notufy their insurance,or do I notify mine ???

They will happily pay excess,as feel SO SO SO bad.

Second bumper to be resprayed, and the car is only 9 months old...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

How much is your excess? I would have thought getting a spray job would be cheaper just to pay rather than go through insurance.

Their excess is $500,but I think this will be more than that,as a respray of the front was $600,and I think the rear bumper is bigger ???

$600 or a bumper! I got my civic bumper re-sprayed for $250. I know its a bit smaller but still shouldn't cost more than $350.

Its just a rear bumper, dont bother going through insurance. You can get it professionally painted for under $500 and your parents wont lose their no claim bonus.

Yeah, for something like that, I wouldn't go through insurance.

Get a couple of quotes and if they're around 500-$600 don't bother going through insurance.

Ask some painless dent removal people. Mobile service... Come to you and stuff. And they can do suprisingly a lot for cheap.

if you claim insurance, you going to pay excess, perhaps lose the NCD and next year you are going to pay even more for insurance

dont go to a honda dealer or specialist
any panel beater will do

$645 to respray a bumper is a complete rip off, i suggest you get some quotes from other repaires with good reputations.

You are Melbourne area? Try Inkermans or Mr Gloss, I hear they are good. Or Dentfix.

If you are in the Melbourne Area I would Highly Recommend Simon @ Paintwerks (http://www.paintwerks.com.au/). He mainly deals Japanese Cars (ie. Subaru's Mitsu's Honda's etc) and does great work. He's busy though and probably won't be able to fit it in immediately. I used his booth once and his quality of work was better than mainstream/high output panel beaters (as they ONLY care about volume/throughput). He uses PPG Products. (Which about 80%+ of car manufacturers use as OEM Paint).

Secondly, Don't even consider claiming Insurance. 9 Times out of 10 you CANNOT claim if the two people who are involved in the accident are either related or live together in the same premises. Even disregarding that... It's not worth screwing up your rating... it will effect you much more in the long run.

With most insurance companies, you can claim, even if the event falls under subrogation - In most cases, the claim is free is you identify the responsibly party (nil xs) and the subrogation law prohibits recovery/a claim needed to be made by your parents - Unless you policy has a specific exclusion.
