hi mates...
few days ago my car jumped on a speed hump...
yea that was my fault i didnt see it...
muffler has a crack and sounds like a fart can now...
apart from that a thing came up later this week
the tachometer is dancing sometimes at the beginning of this drama,
it's like the pin dances/jumps around the actual rpm i m doing but not lower than that.
i thought it was some electrical issues at first...
now it has developed to miss-firing when i push it hard when warmed up,
it idles fine but it did stall once when i was crusing at 100ks.
vtec still kicks in fine but i can feel there's a flat spot/choking at abt 4500rpm...
anyway, no clue on wt's going wrong.
dizzy? spark lead? ECU? vacuum leak?
any replies will be highly appreciated.

cheers,
derek

check your spark plug leads are plugged in firmly.

I'd check plugs and leads, and reset the ECU. Check the dizzy for cracks while you're at it, and for any burning smells after driving.

Also check the o2 sensor just in case but can't see if that would be the problem but might aswell check it

All good advice. It would appear to be an electrical issue - just check that everything (leads, plugs, dizzy, etc) is secure on the engine (as mentioned).

I say the bump has jolted your vehicle speed sensor. They go easily too and cheap anough from ebay. 35 bucks I got my one for from Ebay US seller. Easy to put in too. That will fix your tacho problem.

does VSS relate to tacho? :O
i thought it's abt speedo only...

if the dizzy's whacked a good known replacement unit should fix the problem too

vss only affects the speedo

if the tacho was jumping around and there was misfiring when hot, then it was probs just your ICM. Hope you didn't buy a new dizzy
