I just wanted to see if anyone else was disappointed with the support for the neptune ecu.
that no one now tunes them in brisbane, when so many ppl had bought it, knowing that they would always have the support they needed up in brisbane for retunes or whatever.
now everyone that has one, can do nothing with it, other then go down to melbourne, if you can even do that.
not sure if this is in the right section, but everyone that does have on in brisbane, what are they doing with it?

That's such ashame.
When I spoke to AK Andy,2 years ago,he said some training up on the unit for the tuners is needed.
Sucks to hear, cause it's such a good unit.
If U can organise a few to tune Andy may come up again..

i dont know if there is a few.
i know you made a thread, and few were in, but most bailed. and it was you and my cousin left.
i wouldnt be paying for a tune anyways. the last time it was tuned, it went out of whack.. so just took the ecu out

Thats why i went power fc. sure it doesnt do all the fancy stuff hondata does, but pretty safe to say every tuner has once in their life tuned one and they are good simple ecus.
My car is 240 hp daily driven and the power fc is running it great and never skipped a beat.

I am using Neptune, (in Melbourne) tuned by Andy from AK, runs my car great. But yeah I have no idea who else tunes with it. I am pretty sure you can buy the add on bit that allows anyone with the right knowledge to tune it. Your right though, Hondata has a lot more options when it comes to people that specialise with it.

oh yeah, you can tune them yourself, but i dont want to go around playing with everything. i havent had any experience with it, and dont really want to try.
hondata does have more options, but initially, when the neptune was first introduced to brisbane, it was meant to be the next biggest thing.
epic fail.

the only reason that neptune didnt take off is that fact that sellers didnt push for it, and most honda people choose hondata cos the face that it has a bigger reputation and has the word honda in it. so people think that it must be the beesneess.
not saying its crap or anything im running a K-pro, if i had the chance of getting a neptune for my car tho i would cos i find it a better and seen what it can do.

LOL, if thats true than, any other system such as mentioned is just as good... many push for hondata alot!!! im not sure why, but its good to know what options we have... what about uni chip? micro chip, and haltech? im sure those smaller named ecu brands are just as good as hondata.. power fc was a very popular choice among the turbo groups, especially skylines, plug an play ecu, and plus few specialist tuners as well... win win, i still stand by apexi power fc from the results ive seen
And also many tend to find a ECU than find a tuner, thats not a good recipe, should always be the other way around, after all they are the ones who will tune the car to how u want it to be with what his good with

Yeah and the fact that us Brisbane boys have to go Melbourne to get it tuned... No thanks
We were promised reputable tuners in Brisbane, guess they wanted what was in our pockets $$$$$$

the unpopular brand ecus (Honda Scene) are more popular out side of the honda scene and more likely to be found in the aussie cars (not sure about this). the fact that alot more people choose honda is that there are more specialist tuners that use the honda data and want to push for it cos they know how to tune it well.
power fc yeah plug and play will always be good never said nothing bad about it.
yes you are right about how its better to find a tuner b4 ecu. the thing is that there is a tuner up in Bris that tunes Neptune but they arnt pushing it as much as hondata.
anyways hes getting hondata so no point in arguing about other ecu's as hes already made his decision.

I'm not really set on hondata, but I'm comfortable with it because there are a few good tuners for it

the fact that Kpro is the only 1 that will work with my D17 with out doing a full rewire of my car

OEM D17 or D16 stroked with D17 crank?

Damn I got super excited for a moment there lol. I've seen some of the yanks use the D17 crank in a D16 block to make it 1.7L. Sounds cool considering it's cheap and you only need to mod the OEM pistons to reduce that block clearance.
Anyway, sorry for going off topic.

From what i can tell the neptune software is free and readily available. There are also a few base calibrations/tunes on there so should let you atleast drive the car to a tuner to sort out the details. Only thing you might need to invest in (if its not usb or rs323) is a connector of sorts. Most decent tuners should be able to work from there.
Theres nothing special about any engine managment system. Ive messed around with Hondata, Adaptronic and Motec systems... They are verrry similar (different names for things but all the same shit).
The only difference between someone who has been taught to tune the ECU and someone who's applying general knowledge of tuning is the special functions to get possibly better results. For the most part, a tuner 'tunes' the fuel/ignition maps, which dont change that much between different products (if at all).
As for hondata, seriously only reason to ever get it is coz it's plug and play. The adaptronic units are similarly priced and easy to wire up (they can use all the stock sensors) but have a shite load more features and i personally would much rather one of them over a hondata (i own both btw)

point of the thread, was to state my disappointment with neptune, not to compare it with hondata.
for all im concerned, i wouldnt recommend neptune. especially to anyone in brisbane.
a waste of money on a product that has no support up here, when you get promised there would be.
i would say, too many ppl were mislead.
yeah the software is available and you can tune it yourself, but what if someone has no knowledge of tuning.
i wouldnt be playing around with anything you know nothing about

Im suggesting you take a laptop with the software loaded to a tuner; If they can tune a hondata/motec, im sure they can tune a neptune =)
(not trying to play down youre reccomendation, just make the best of the situation that you are in)
