so its about time i replace the oil sump seal. since im gonna have to remove the 2-1 section of the OEM header, im worried that while undoing the nuts of the header the studs may come loose at the same time. are there tips so i dont do this mistake?

If the studs come out, then just put them back in? Use rust off and you should be fine...

oh yeh i forgot to ask a qustion about the sump seal too.
the workshop manual says to use gasket sealer at each end of the sump, would i have to put the sealer between block and sump seal OR sump and sump seal?

for b16/b18 vtec
I put two lines, one on each end where the oil pump joins, bottom of block.
Also a thin ring around the oil pan. little bit thicker on the front and back of the oil pan, not too much.
make sure its inner circumference of the bolt holes, not outside.
make sure you leave no trace of oil on either mating surface.

here is a pic from the manual.....

what im getting by this pic is one side needs to have liquid sealant between block and gasket and the other side needs liquid sealant between gasket and oil pan.
or do i need to put sealant on block and sump sides?

I would apply a small ring around the oil pan as well.
those corners on the block side it looks like.
also where ever there is separation on the block, like the oil pump etc.
