belongs in site discussion i think.

BOT - what " pop ups" are you referring to ?

A computer sydstem is most vunerable , at its totally refresh. ( since no backup / updates etc are running)

Download these programs to help you out - SPYBOT , hijackthis , adaware etc (all free downloads) and they should help kill off most spyware.

NOTE When running one of these progs , open the programs, hit cntrl+alt+delete to access your tastk manager , go to processes , select all user-based running processes including explorer.exe and end each one - then run the programs' scan ( for best chances to catch out any spyware progs.)
After its finished click on "new task" and type in "explorer.exe" to access your windows gui again.

good luck. . .

it pops up a window that usually advertises something...

The window that pops up is a plain text window with an "ok" button that gets rid of it if u click it.

The ads that pop up are ironically ones that advertise programs that get rid of adware.

I don't think if would be ozhonda, more then likely you went to a site that had a pop up

they usually lie dormant until u close your comp down and start it up again

probably changed your registry as well, u might need to format your comp or use Hijack this to get rid of the pop up.

I really doubt it's Ozhonda.

Sounds more like your computer.

Get a spyware removal program (run a couple)

If Ozhonda had an issue with Spyware, why hasn't anyone else had the same problem. I mean, out of several thousand members.

As wynode suggested, get yourself a good Spyware removal program.

Here's a place to start:

I wouldn't say the best. As you will notice you get best results running more than one of these programs as they all pick up different things on your system.

When you say fresh does this mean you haven't installed any other software as well? As you will find some programs install spyware, malware without you even realising and this can cause odd behaviour such as pop-up from your favourite site :D

Just do a fresh install, and before you connect ot the net, install Service pack 2. Activate firwall, Stay off porno sites and you should be right.

I thought XP service pack 2 was unstable or something. Just make sure you get the security patches from windowsupdate.
My bf's job is computer thingo person whatchamacallit and he tells everyone not to get service pack 2 if it can be helped. I don't know much about this but we have Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware.
