To aid victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan Yokohama Tyre Australia will donate $1 from every tyre sold in March and April to the Japanese Red Cross Society. This follows a pledge from The Yokohama Rubber Company Japan, announced yesterday, that it will donate 50 million Yen (Around $600,000 AUS) immediately to assist the relief efforts following the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake Disaster on 11th March 2011.

Yokohama Rubber Company Japan and Yokohama Tyre Australia would like to express their sympathy to the families who lost loved ones in the Earthquake and Tsunami. We hope the areas devastated will be reconstructed as soon as possible.

Thankfully there have been no casualties in any Yokohama factories. Immediately after the Earthquake all plants suspended operations. Some damage to buildings and equipment was observed at the Ibaraki Plant only. Production will resume at Mishima Plant, Hiratsuka Factory, Hiratsuka-Higashi Plant, Hamatite (Nakahara) Plant and Nagano Plant following safety checks and pending raw material and electricity supply. Shinshiro Plant, Mie Plant and Onomichi Plant will continue to operate as normal.

Yokohama store networks in Australia which include Bob Jane T-Marts, Tyres & More and Yokohama Preferred Independent dealers are concerned and want to help. Yokohama Tyre Australia has pledged to donate one dollar ($1.00 AUS) per tyre sold in March and April 2011 to the Japanese Red Cross Society. In this small way, we can show our support to the Japanese community most in need.
