Hi,
just wondering what kind/type of gauges I need for the jazz?

i.e mechanical/ electrical?? what's the difference? I really want a water temp or oil temp since the jazz doesn't have it...

Im thinking of getting 3 gauges put in the centre just above the vents and take out my dumb apexi rsm. I just know I want the temperature gauge but don't know what to put the other 2. any ideas? I wanna put 1, but then look gay just one by itself.

and anyone know what brand types that have white face and illuminates orange like jazz's interior? I wanna match the stocks dials and stuff...

thanks.

The 3 most useful would be for the jazz is oil temp, oil pressure, and water temp, most useful is oil pressure as once that drops you know something is wrong stop the car and get it towed to the nearest workshop.

Electrical is the best and most acccurate the difference is, eg mechanical oil pressure guage, you will have a line with oil pressure run into your cabin guage then back again, you can see how it can get real messy.

electrical has one main control unit, your sensors are wired up to eg oil temp, reading goes to the main control unit that then displays it on the guage. usual features are playback mode and ability to hook up muti guages with one control unit.

Defi latest Bf amber series make the orange on back background. these have to be seen to be believed how good they are. they are all 60mm guages so it the biggest ones you can get, cost is roughtly i paid in HK equivelent of about $1200 depending on currency. excluding fitting and guage holder..

Defi is nice
and catcha is right as those 3 gauges are all u need

Electrical is nice of coz but $$$
$1k+ may better get exhuast or even header..... IMO

different strokes for different folks...if you like them get them. Any jap brand electrical is gonna cost you an arm and leg unless u know someone, but they do look nice and do have a useful purpose, or just to make the interior look nice, don't let other people tell you other wise your money your choice

nono
i mean you can buy header or exhuast system FIRST and later you can get some nice gauges.

everybody say 'defi' gauge... so expensive for such simple things... but thnx for advice.. i was also thinkin of oil temp and water temp, now i know the 3rd one. :)

yeah my dumb rsm... I just hate it now. There's really not much good place to put it and the stand vibrates and tilts up and down too much when your susp is too stiff, got annoyed of it. and it doesn't suit the interior lighting unless it is also changed to blue.

and I dont know HOW TO RIP IT OUT??????????? .....

o ic ic :) so it sthe lighting and the fitting problems.
defi is sure nice as its simple and clean..also no holes drilling for installing. but pricy hehe.

well if ur looking for white face wth orange lighting tat matches interior..may consider autometer or splitfire gauges. they do hav white faces and lights up just like jazz's interior. however u'll need cup holders which most of them requires drilling on your dash to fit on.

hope this helps.

cheap guages, have mechanical lines to your cabin,
ie lets say oil temp, they run a line from engine to cabin, if say there's a leak or catastrophic failure, can u imagine the oil spurting out the line?

if u buy a elect gauge, the sensor is in the engine bay, if there is a leak, everything is conained in the engine bay

isnt there some restriction in regards to having oil gauges outside the car e.g on top of the bonnet. i remember seeing something on DOT website for mods

anyway it's the same saying
u get what u pay for
buy those ebay specials and u'll end up with a nasty surprise if your installer is shit or yr gauge is faulty
