IMO, not worth it, might aswell get a engine swap and convert to manual @ the same time OR sell car and buy manual straight up saves the fuss

Parts needed: D series manual gearbox, manual ECU, manual gauge cluster, clutch master cylinder, clutch & brake pedal assembly, + labor.

Not worth the time, money & effort.

Sell it & buy a manual.

in ek its not as hard as eg.
if you have a mint ek you wanna keep, do it.
its not that hard, just need to find all parts before you diy.

i still gotta fix reverse light sensor issue lol.

Is it Worth to Complete Swap D16y4 auto to B18 manual?????

Obviously its worth it. B18C engines that is. D16Y4 Auto is only a cruiser mobile.

But do you have 5-6k laying around just to have a b-series manual fun?

29-03-2011, 10:56 PM

engine swapping is some hard shit and alot of headache

mugen_ctr
29-03-2011, 10:59 PM
Engine swap is no easy feat, for all cars man... regardless what it is, id say ride out the car till u can save up more an get a better car, or bite the bullet and go either a gearbox swap or trade/swap it for a manual one

eren
29-03-2011, 11:01 PM
it just feels weird cause im 16 and have no mechanical experince other then changing a alternator on a falcon lmao

29-03-2011, 11:06 PM

eren
29-03-2011, 11:10 PM
Saving Up :D lol

charliebrown
29-03-2011, 11:13 PM
if you're not gonna be doing the conversion yourself and paying some shop to do it... just buy a manual car with an R engine conversion. it's only fun and satisfying if you're the one getting grease under your nails

see now its become clear u are still young and have no money to do any of these things all u want to do is ask questions and speculate/dream with a imagine if i had 9999999$

and u will become of the noobs who start 99999 threads asking similar questions

"where can i source this engine"
"how much is this engine"
"where can i get this engine"
"which engine is better"
"when i win the lottery ive decided im going k20 cause its better"
"where can i find replica wheels and lips"

lol....................... before asking any of these please use the search tool.

makes sense now huh lol, was so confused @ the start.

if your serious about this eren honestly id just sell the car take money from that add it onto whatever you have a purchase a car thats already manual saves you the fuss.
your 16 you dont need a B18 an Ek4 with a b16 is fine for now.

how much cash will a Auto Ek1 GLi 96 Hatch auto 204.xxxks get me?

davidvtec
29-03-2011, 11:25 PM
Have you got your Ps yet? I suggest you learn to drive around first in a normal car to improve your driving skills before you start upgrading, otherwise giving a powerful motor to a 16 year old can get out of hands.

But imo, sell and buy another decent car.

Sounds to me as though you've already moved too far down the modifying path economically, 'cause you won't get back what you've already spent either way, so while it's going to cost more than if you had originally had manual to start with, it may be the only sensible alternative. Would have been different possibly if you had kept the original sussy etc.

Sussy and wheels are the easiest things to take off? You can pick up stock sussy for an ek easy for like $50-100. I had an auto dc4 with about $2500 in mods. I returned it to stock and bought myself a manual EG. Wouldn't bother converting an ek unless i was going to chuck in a B or K. Can buy a whole new manual EK for price of conversion lol

best thing is do a tafe course on cars or hang with people that are mechanical minded or in the business

no point sitting on the computer asking questions
