I have a problem with starting up my car.
When I start the car, I can hear the 'clicking sound' but not the engine starting sound.
I follow the user manual, checking the ignition fuse, fuel pump fuse, but still couldn't get it starts.
Does anyone know what is this problem and how to solve it please?
Thanks a lot

so when you turn the key to start all you get is a click?

as the other 2 have said id check the battery first. if thats fine id be leaning towards the starter motor.

are you able to turn on your lights or run your stereo?

Recharge the batterry and if it still won't start look in to things like the starter motor.

Maybe the timing belt has snapped.

Correct me if im wrong, but they use a timing chain, and that's very unlikely.

Only a month ago the OP was complaining about a delayed start up. So it's most probably his battery, if not then starter motor.

This happened to my FD a year ago and yes... Problem solved after replacing the battery..

i have solved that problem already. Yeah, i did think of battery as that is probably the most likely case.
But i was only curious as when i looked at the battery indicator, it indicates the battery is "OK"
and when i followed the user manual of the FD2, it said, "when there is clicking sounds and the engine is not starting, check if the headlight is working (and yes, it works), then it further said it might be due to other electrical issues, and better get a qualified electrician to check it"
thats why i ask that stupid question as i was ready to go home after shopping at Coles. =='
I am still thinking how would that happen as the battery indicates 'OK'.....
thinking if the charger is broken....if so, that would be hurt.....

Okay... then why ask if you were taking it to an auto electrician?

Your battery is unable to supply the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) to crank the starter motor over.

CCA - are the maximum amps that your battery can supply for a short period of time. The CCA number will be at the top of the battery usually, should be something around 350 - 500.

It's basically the kick required from the battery to get your car started.

Your battery still has charge, hence why your headlights would come on, but it doesn't have enough in it to start the car.

Hope that was simple enough.
