Heya,

I'm Alyce, and I just bought an Integra VTI-R from a guy in NSW. Problem is, it's not quite roadworthy, and I have a couple questions about the cheapest and easiest way to get it fixed so I can drive the damn thing!

Here's the problem list:

Couple lights not working (easy fixed with new globes)
Handbrake cable needs adjusting (not too hard to fix myself)
Power steering fluid leaks a bit (needs clamp - can do)
Needs 1 new tyre (easy)

Now, here's the harder/more expensive bit. Car is too low (only clears the ground by 90mm; needs to be 100mm). So I need to get new springs (I think). It's got sports suspension, so I don't really want to muck around with anything that I don't need to.

Can I just get 4 springs from a wrecker and replace them (got mates who could do it for me), and that's it? Someone suggested spacers, but I don't know how that works, or how to do it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

If you're in Hobart, you'll see me getting around soon; it's bright lime green - can't miss it, currently with NSW plates but I'll get that transferred as soon as I can register it... :( Grrrr for people who do the dodgy and won't give you a roadworthy certificate before purchase. (Luckily it's nothing worse to fix, I suppose). That'll teach me...

Welcome Alyce, you should post up some pics of your teg!
When you say sports suspension, do you know exactly what it is? have a look around the for sale section you might find some cheap parts to drop in.

spacers are a defect so it won't be road worthy. If you look around in the parts for sale section you might find some cheap suspension that comes with shocks as well.

welcome to ozhonda!

in regards to your suspension question, a spacer is used to push the wheel outwards to make it sit wider.

so imagine taking off the wheels, putting a 1cm thick disc onto the wheel lugs and putting the wheel back on. you "space" it out.

there is no such thing as a spacer that is used on the suspension to increase the height of the vehicle. at least not one that i've heard of.

hopefully i've addressed your question correctly

EDIT:
as a matter of fact maybe there is, however a quick search on google reveals that these are only used on most 4wd cars, i've never heard of anyone using these so called spacers on honda sedans..

A custom spacer could be whacked into the suspension under/above the spring to gain some height, maybe that's what someone meant.

Hey again, so my beautiful lime green Integra got smashed into in November, leaving me with a broken ankle and a crushed car - devastated.

I only had it 6 months!!!

Now waiting to be able to post it up for sale on here, but I've got a Gumtree link up anyway, if anyone knows someone who'd want it for parts:

Apologies if I'm not supposed to post up links on here - if a mod feels that this is a breach of a forum policy, please let me know! :)
