Is my motor stalled?

I hvnt started my civic for approx 6 months, today i filled her up wit some petrol and tried to jumper cable start it, all the lights on the dash came up normally, even the sub pumped hard, but when i tried to start it just made a knocking sound and the speedo went haywire.

Would anyone know whats wrong? i would like to fix it myself instead of risking towing, its currently sitting 2 inchs from the ground lol.


Any suggestions?

Imma buy a new battery tommorow.

did you check all the fluids?
after sitting for this long the oil and coolant will DEFINATLY need changing
give the starter motor a gentle tap with some wood and a mallet
spray a tonne of carby/TB cleaner into the throttlebody

poor car ... why didnt u get somebody to start it once a month?

Just do a tune up, oil, oil filter, coolant, clean throttle . check wires, hoses for cracks.

in the future when u plan to not start a car for extended time - drain all the fluids, disconnect the battery, put the car on stands, remove the wheels and let down the tyres

Lol, got new battery today, tmr ill flush fluids, when you say all fluids... does that include gear oil, power steering basically a major service is req?

I used to start it once every week, then it dropped to once a month then once every 6 months i guess lol.

why keep the car than - probably better off selling it or letting somebody drive it on a weekly basis
if it has literally been over 6 months it will most likely need a major service - it may run without it but you will risk major damage to vital components

i ran into some financial problems and im on my red p plates, got my greens today as well, now im legal to drive to the car. The reason for me starting to fix it up. Im still unemployed lol. Lets see where the road leads me to, im thinking about selling it and buying a new em1 or s2k.

wait.. if the speedo reads from the gearbox, how could trying to start the car make it go crazy if the gearbox isn't turning? thats weird as.. :S

Lol bro relax, i had an addiction. Im off it now if you wanna get personal lol.

When my car was in its prime, i washed it every 2nd -3rd day, i did the servicing 5k kms on the dot. Got the car checked by a mechanic every 15k - 20k kms for any possible fk ups. Im very fussy about my car. Today i flushed out all fluids, re filled it. changed the spark plugs, removed the pod filter and replaced it with the original air filter. tomorrow im gonna change fuel filter.

Im pretty sure i can take care of my stuff. Sure i dont know much about cars, but i know enough to maintain my car to a standard.

Oh and about my un employment, i can grantee i have held jobs that pay me more then you will ever think off mate. Dont look down others, its pretty shallow.

nothing personal at all - i also have held very high paying jobs - im a mechanical engineer by trade but mainly do consulting an project management
at the moment im a student though because i spent 12 months in a wheelchair - we all go through rough patches

good to hear you got the car going man - also nice to see you setting some good goals for yourself with the S2K =)
see so many kids get a massive loan for a car they cant afford - so that was the conclusion i jumped to =/
got any more info on the car? engine/mods etc? hows it running now?

The car came with some funky tail lights (Ferrari look alike personally i think its ugly) will change to stock when i got the dollars

PS: i think you get paid more lol. I was doing Financial Advising on Superannuation, earned 20grand in one month and left lol.

haha good to see ur gona De-Rice the car - u only need a small quality stereo - not a BIG stereo
and just get JDM or USDM tail-lights - they look nice =)

Ye Im planning the 5 lug conversion with the motor conversion just gota see how the budget goes. If i don't have enough, ill get white ITR rims lol or maybe fat 5 resprayed white wit white center caps. Still got a few debts to pay off this month then the car becomes a priority, thats not the 100% list yet, the budget is important.


PS: its running b16a2 + b18c gearbox combo atm.

and why the heck did you swap out the B16a2 gearbox for a B18c one? they have slower ratios lol

I have no idea why i did that too, cost more to do the gearbox implant then the rebuilt wouldve cost, didnt you post in the other thread? double face plam lol.
