looking thru the bendix catalogue there is 2 shapes of front brake pads in ek4 civics

is there a way, apart from taking the pad out and comparing to a print out, to tell looking by markings on the caliper as to which pad corresponds to which type of caliper

as a reference the 2 pad shapes are as follows

sumitomo caliper

akebono caliper

highly unlikley since most of the pad is covered by the caliper and you also have the anit-squeal shim which covers the pad aswell.

take a pad out....and take it to your local brake shop. The bendix catalogue has 1:1 images of pads - you can line up your pad against them to get the right part.

ah ok
so the calipers physically look the same?

Very much the same shape, just different sizes but you wouldn't be able to tell very easily by just holding it.

so the calipers themselves have no distinguishing features?

Or get the vin number of your car and give them every detail.
