Any FD's with hid in brisbane?
Are the cops strict around here? I'm thinking getting some HID but due to the glare I don't wanna get pulled over all the time.

Please don't. Or aim them down at least...

Sorry to the dk head who owns the black FD that drives around Cabra/Canley, but your car is fkn blinding. Do you really need to see the top of trees? It's always silly *people putting HID's in their EKs, FDs, etc. with their reflector head lights... Not aiming them and sht...

Sorry for the rant and all the people I offended, but seriously, AIM THE DAMN THINGS DOWN OR DON'T DO IT....... You look like an idiot and you piss people off... And don't compare it to how blinding stock Euros and BMWs because its just not the same...

Regards,

*dick with retrofit HIDs in his Integra.

Most FD's are ok with glare, considering they were deisgned for it. Mine was no worse than a 4wd. You probably experienced a badly aimed one.

And there's on need for that racism.

an dyes they're illegal no matter what you do.

They were designed for it? I don't know about that but you are right some 4wds blind me with stock halogens. I guess I could just buy one of those projector housing from ebay. Not considering retrofitting, seems too much work for just HIDs.

FDs have reflector housings...which are not designed for HID bulbs. Yes - there are cars which come with HID bulbs as options in reflector housings ( EP3 with type C package for example) but the fact remains. Reflector housings are designed for halogen bulbs. Projector housings are for HID bulbs in mind....

Having said that - HIDs are illegal in replacement for halogen bulbs. So do so at YOUR own risk !

i heard they were legal...on conditions.

afaik they have to have electronically balanced or something. or electronically adjustable, and in projector style fittings.

but this might just be in vic

ugh i know what you mean. i hate it when theres a high 4wd behind you and the headlights beam straight through your back window. shits me to no end.

They are only legal IF they have all of the following:

- Automatic levelling
- Are housed in the proper projector lenses (not the ebay ones, the ebay ones and angel eye ones etc are meant for halogens. They have a \_ shaped cut-off instead of a __ shaped one)
- They also need to have a washer system linked so that you can wash the headlights to remove any debris on the surface which could interfere / refract the light beam.

They are not legal for cars that are not produced without them. Ie. if you fit the OEM Euro Xenon full kit (incl leveling and washers) in a non luxury euro, then you wouldn't need an engineering certificate, however since none of the civic range comes with Xenons, you would need them to be certified before they were legal.

I have a set of angel eye headlights for the FD at home, and the plan is to retrofit them to remove the gay rice angel eyes and change the projector to work properly with HIDs.

It will still not be legal since it wont have auto levelling or washers, but blow me - as if i can be bothered for all that rubbish - i may not even fit them, may just convert them and sell them

your car has projectors fitted. So much less annoying than other cars with reflectors...

Correction benjaminn, in japan and i think NZ, the Fd's come with HIDs, which is why (i suspect) mine weren't so bad compared to ek's ,DC5s etc.

if i were to fit 4300k hid's you wouldn't even realise

Just don't wire up that ricey shit and modify the projector shields a bit

JDM front lights are way too expensive. I can't justify spending that much to fit in HID
Why didn't they just design the car with projectors in the first place.... like the C-RV o euro...
Anyone bought those projector lights on ebay? Hows the build quality of those. I'm scare they would be cheaply made and not water tight.

anyway...how do you suggest to modify the reflectors ...

Aim them down. Nothing you can do about it.

JDM headlights are the same as ours... projectors were in the design specifications for cost savings.

It looks good. Install one 8k for a FD1 last week. Not too bad at night but make sure you adjust to make the light point to the ground more.

Or you can buy a set of aftermarket projector headlight with projector however it will need bodykit and wheel to make the look

pretty sure JDM lights got different reflectors?! anyone confirm? The HID standard lights got special reflectors to account for the glare.

DuffyFD

simple fact. don't put HIDs in reflectors. It's rice and that's not nice.

yellow-er lights are the new thang :)

I have HIDs on my FD and I'm pretty sure they're just normal reflectors. They are aimed to the correct level and have never had a car high-beam me or any trouble with the police. I have 8000k low beam and 6000k fog lights that I have on together all the time.

As long as you have them aimed correctly it's all good.

Here's some low quality pics that I took back then:

They might look blinding in the pics but it's far from true.

I think those strips wouldn't look great in the day time. They need to stand out more. But at night would look nice
