FD1 and FD2 foglights

Hi guys,

I have an FD2 Civic and I am not a fan of the foglights. I prefer the FD1 foggies anyday.

Does anyone know for sure if the FD1 foglights fit in the same holes as the FD2? Are the holes the same for FD1 and FD2 as they do appear to be the same or very similar.

If so then I'll be buying a pair of FD1 foglights and swapping them over. Thanks.

Hi hazza,

I think you've gotten mixed up somewhere...

FD1 = Vti / Vti-L models
FD2 = Sport model
FD3 = Hybrid model

The 2006-2008 civics all have the cooler/nicer shaped foggies.

Whereas the 2009-present civics (face-lifted models) get the circular lameo foggies.

In terms of fitment, it looks similar. However, the surrounds aren't the same. So i don't think you can simply swap and fit them in. It would require some mods to the kit in order to get them to fit snuggly.

Some1 else plz correct me if I'm wrong.

Thats what I have, the FD2 sport. I was to install the FD1 foglight as I think the FD2 ones are crap (small oval). Oh well, what a shame.

I think you're still confused. You have a facelifted fd and you want prefacelift fogs. Nothing to do with fd1/fd2

If there is anyone in Sydney that has a pre-facelift fog light cap/cover they have removed and put mesh in, please let me know. I would like to remove my facelift foggies, and see if the pre cover fits is. They look near identical. Thanks.

they won't fit unless you modify or mould the facelift front bar to make it fit

They don't look very similar at all dude... I have squinty eyes and even I can tell...

Fd1/fd2 will look identical for any given year. After the facelift the bumper got "inverted fangs" so the doggies changed shape completely. Look more closely

Prefacelift foggies could probably fit the 09+ civics, if u somehow make a custom plastic spacer thingo to compensate for those 'inverted fangs'. the outside curved lines of the foglight area seem similar, it's only the inside bit which seems different. *shrugs* that's just from looking at them, without any measurements

I have given up, I agree with 'aero' it prob could be done, but will need to fart ass around. Oh well. Pre bar will be the best option if I want it bad enough.
