Hello all! I know this is a far away forum for me. I signed up specifically to find a part that only you have in Australia! I'm looking for a 2005+ DC5 Type-S gauge cluster MT.

Thank you. I try to keep her clean but here in Wisconsin we have A LOT of snow and that means a lot of salt and that then means a lot of rust :( But I garage queen her over winter

Its a straight swap K24A3. I blew up my K20 and the head couldnt be salvaged so I couldnt do a frank. I wanna go down the s/c route as you've done. Your engine bay looks soo nice! But I dont think I could live without A/C and power steering, so I'll keep mine in. Top job for putting your 2 cents in! I ENJOYED the read and pics.

I havent touched my thread in ages but its still there if you wanna see. This was before I had the Work Cr Kais and a whole lot of stuff though. K24 blocks look almost the same as k20's except its like 12mm higher and you have to trim down so fat to make it fit, nothing structural. Only way you can tell what it is, is by looking at the engine block. But yea I guess I should post pics up, after all pics or it didnt happen right? lol but i dont have a good camera and no money as all of it goes to buy more stuff for my car.

Where did you find the parts for the EPS? Are they aftermarket or did u grab them off a later model Honda? Any luck finding the type S cluster? I can call local wreckers if you'd like and tell u a price, ill try to bargain them down cause they quote crazy prices cause they know most of the time they got you by the balls.

That would be awesome if you could. A guy PM'd me right away the other day and I wrote him back bust haven't heard anything back yet.

As far as my Electronic Power Steering it is from a US Honda Civic EP3 SI. I'm not sure what you call that there if it is any different? But it is pretty much a direct bolt on you just need to tap into the ECU 3 wires and you need to swap outer tie rod ends. I have a DIY on it. (not sure if you can see this) http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=738526&highlight=eps

On my show off thread on ClubRSX I have a TON of DIYs like 45 of them or so lol I am the head mechanic for my car club but I'm a DIY whore and love helping others learn and advance.

Nuci has a Type S cluster he bought for this Type R, then realised it didn't fit.

I've done a bit of reading on the EPS as I'm thinking of doing a wire tuck in my car (When I install my K24a3 also). I haven't had a chance to see if there are any Australian models that came with the EPS system, but now that I know what model it came out of, should make my search a little easier.

Oterhwiese, great thread, and I'll be sure to have a read of your ClubRSX thread later!

looks like a fuel pressure guage for the fuel reg.

But what is the latest thing you installed with all the wires? and how does it work

Yes its a fuel pressure gauge. I am running a new fuel setup with a return line which the car does not have from the factory. So I'm also running an after market fuel pressure regulator which is adjustable so the gauge is to see how much fuel pressure for tuning.

The latest thing is a tucked wiring harness. This cleaned up the engine soo much. It is a completely rewired harness to clean up the bay, hide wires, and eliminate un-needed crap like the big conjunction box in the harness.

Troy

Ok thanks for that. You said it is for tuning. So do you have another gauge inside to monitor when driving or is it not needed?

Just trying to make sense of a gauge that won't be seen whilst driving. :D

When tuning your car and especially when you are boosted you need to make sure you can keep solid fuel pressure to the fuel injectors. I currently removed ALL the stock components to the fuel system and am running all new lines, fittings, rails, FPR, injectors, and etc. When tuning in boost you can start seeing fuel pressure drop up high in the RPMs so we use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to add more or take away fuel. The gauge is to indicate how much pressure we are running. It's also helpful for diagnosis problems in the fuel system for example if a pump is going weak. You'll have less pressure at the injectors. No need to have a fuel pressure gauge inside the car. Big race cars will sometimes have fuel pressure in the car but not needed. Once your fuel pressure has been set you just keep it as a reference.

The biggest need for it is initially setting up a new adjustable fuel pressure regulator. If pressure is to high you have issues, if to low you do too. Stock fuel pressure is around 55psi I believe so with having a gauge while getting my car running I'll be able to adjust the regulator closest to stock to get me going.

One of my internet friends was going through Avid Racings website and saw my engine. He then realize the whole article was mine. He called me up and told me about it and sure enough I scoped it out myself. I'm on their website. It's nothing fancy or anything but it made me feel pretty cool. Like the million DIYs I do and all the help I give pays off in the end sometimes

Came home from work and another new part in the mail... nothing crazy but should help me. Since I have uber dark window tint I can't see shit when reversing...

Here is my stock bulbs
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Reverse%20LEDs/100_6902.jpg

Well RetroSolutions came up with a new bulb for the 05 when I asked a couple of weeks ago!

I also got a chance to make my ITR airbag function

First off, always disconnect your battery!!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6920.jpg

Next pull off your ITR airbag and get a donor airbag. In this case I got a tan airbag from a friend who no longer has his RSX.

ITR on left RSX on right
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6909.jpg

ITR uses a single stage Airbag vs RSX which uses a dual stage

ITR SRS plug
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6910.jpg

RSX plug
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6911.jpg

First thing I did was use an allen head to remove the horn function. This will help make room for the big set of pliers.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6914.jpg

Now grab some pliers
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6912.jpg

Now just remove these four nuts
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6915.jpg

and pull this part off
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6916.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6917.jpg

Do this to both airbags
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6918.jpg

and swap them! Tighten them back down
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/ITR%20steering%20wheel/100_6919.jpg

reinstall and you are set to go :beerchug:

So four hours of cleaning today and I'm soooo tired but Ivy looks soooo sexy! I can't wait to see her in the sunlight tomorrow!!!

I started by taking her for a car wash. She loves a bath. Then came home and began! I tried a new product today, Ice Claybar system from Turtle Wax

its a 3 part system. Deep cleaner, clay bar, then wax.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/washwax%20day/100_6929.jpg

firs the deep cleaner
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/washwax%20day/100_6927.jpg

its a blue liquid that helps removes scratches and oxidation and etc.

Then the clay bar... even after washing and cleaner this was off my first pass!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/washwax%20day/100_6930.jpg

Then after claying time for wax!

Did a quick suspension swap. So I thought I would make my version of the DIY....

First step break loose your lug nuts

next while the car was lower I decided to pull out the trunk parts so you can get to the rear strut bolts.

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7014.jpg

Now go ahead and jack her up and put her on stands
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7016.jpg

I started with the front. So first I loosened up the top bolts and removed the strut bar
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7010.jpg

then so the strut doesn't just fall out later put one of the nuts back on
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7024.jpg

Now take off the tire and lets get to work. Remove the 10mm ABS bracket bolt(i don't have ABS so none shown) and the 12mm brake line bracket bolt.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7019.jpg

Now go ahead and take off the tie rod end. Remove the cotter pin then use a 19mm socket
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7021.jpg

pop her on out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7022.jpg

Now time to take off the big bolts. 19mm and 23mm
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7023.jpg

once those are out the hub will fall forward
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7025.jpg

Go ahead and take off the one nut on top holding the strut in and pull her out. Now compare... stock struts with Eibach springs compared to Buddy Club N+
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7026.jpg

and instal in reverse order of course
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7027.jpg

This will help you instal the front. Use a jack to push up on the control arm so you can get the bolts threw
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7028.jpg

now time for the rear....
start buy loosening up the rear strut bolts on the top. I actually take off the back one since its a pain to get to. 14mm
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7037.jpg

then go underneath and take out the bottom main strut bolt 19mm
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7046.jpg

now we are also installing a camber kit. So pop off the 17mm on top arm
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7032.jpg

Then pull out strut because the control arm will lower

Remember to pull off the one nut left on top
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7034.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7033.jpg

Now use a 17mm and remove the two top bolts for the camber arm and a 10mm to remove ABS line
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7031.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7038.jpg

heres the camber kit
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7039.jpg

now instal both strut and camber kit
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7040.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7044.jpg

and just like front use a jack to lift control arm to help instal
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/Buddy%20Club/100_7043.jpg

now do the other sides and you are done! Enjoy...

I bought mine used and they were already set. I will lower them later.

So my car club, Urban Disturbance, put on our latest car show. There were over 100 cars that attended. Unfortunately due to work I was 3 hours late getting to the show and missed a lot of nice rides as I'm told... but here is a video of some of the cars that were still there when I got there.

One of the biggest shows came to a state near me... so I took a couple hour drive to the show and took second in the Acura class. Third place and first place were both an NSX lol so I'm very happy to have been able to compete with NSX's!!

I'm just going to keep on doing what I do... modify :)

So spent the day at a buddies house and struggled and haven't fully finished... but here is some progress updates...

Took my stock front fenders and pulled them out! I'm going to rock a 255 tire in the front next season
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/2011-10-08173630.jpg

And now the tire no longer pokes out a lot
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/2011-10-08190030.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/2011-10-08185953.jpg

Also picked up some new parts from him :vtec:

TopOne splitter

Ok so before:
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/100_7697.jpg

and then I took out my center grill
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/100_7698.jpg

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/100_7699.jpg

and put two giant washers evenly to mark drill holes
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/100_7700.jpg

Then connected the new rods.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/splitter%20and%20fender%20pulling/100_7701.jpg

Then marked holes for the bolts going thru the splitter and connected them and walla!

Yeah.. the rods are so as you increase speed, you are increasing pressure and the lip will want to flex down. The rods will keep the splitter steady and even at high speeds.

So I decided to do a little upgrade today... then again what's new :)

So I decided the fakatas had to go! Here is what I had
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/gforce%20harness/100_7710.jpg

and here is the back where I had it crossed incorrectly cause at the time I didn't know what I was doing lol
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/gforce%20harness/100_7711.jpg

But now I have FIA/SFI approved harnesses from G-Force
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad22/typespaz/gforce%20harness/100_7707.jpg

The quality on these things are absolutely amazing. So much better, thicker, stronger and nicer than my knockoffs.

Installed

I did however forget to show pictures of drilling through the floorboard. I just drilled a hole and used a bolt and washers and lots of gasket sealer to make sure no water gets in the car
