Hi peeps,

My civic FD has been recently vibrating in reverse and in park when starting it up and when i let got of the throttle when driving, it makes a bumpy sound. My car is a automatic btw. The revs on the engine revs fine. I was hoping i can get some indication of what it may be.

Aero another member on here had a similar problem I recall. From memory one of his engine mounts had cracked thus the vibrations. He replaced it and it was all sweet.

I actually went to Hanny's (honda mechanic) at smithfield and the initial diagnosis was a broken engine mount. But they couldn't find the broken engine mount. And they told me they couldn't find the problem. The car runs smoothly on drive. But Reverse and park rattles like crazy. EnGee, i couldn't find aero's thread. Are you able to assist?? what should i put in the key words for the search??

definitely the side engine mount

look for any oil leakage on the engine mount...

Hey Guys.. you are spot on! And it's the hydraulic engine mount that broke!! I can't believe Hanny's Performance centre couldn't figure it out! So much for being a specialized honda service centre. I guess they had a queue of cars and didn't want to spend too much time on my car. :S

Anyways, hats off to u guys! Problem solved! :)

I had this issue earlier in the year. The oil in one of the top mounts had "gone off" which made it start to sag. Since the top 2 mounts hold most of the weight, when one of them goes, makes the car vibrate.
There weren't many options for aftermarket mounts and i wasn't sure about the US ones on eBay, so I had to order oem ones from Honda, which ended up costing $700 to buy and getting them installed

When i heard how much you paid for it, i almost jumped out of my seat. I actually got an aftermarket mount and it was fitted by the mechanics @ Yagoona for $400.00. I wonder if this is a common issue with our cars.

I also had to change my spark plugs just a few months ago. I've only done 70,000kms. I hope this is my last issue for the next 2 years. :S
