Hey guys,
did a few searches and read a few threads regarding petrol economy.

Just want to clarify a few things tho as many posts didn't mention what model their jazz was.

I'm looking to purchase a jazz as a daily.

Will be buying either a 2003/2004 model as buying second hand and just wondering

- GD1 vs GD3? (how much better would fuel consumption be 1.3l vs 1.5l)
- what are the main stand out points of buying a GD3? leather steerng wheel i read.. any others?

Power isnt a big issue to me, got other cars. Just want someting small to drive that is under my current 13L/100km

Thanks in advance

There's already a thread on the Jazz's fuel economy here (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?148232-Jazz-Milage).
As far as i know, the gd3 VTI-S came with the lip kit, leather wheel, alloys, aux port(not on mine), diff coloured trim (black for VTI-S but blue/gray for GLI/VTI i think)

the dash and appearance (lip kits/bumpers etc) vary a fair bit with each model/year.

hope this helps :)

Go for an '04 GD3 and upwards.

I dont think the difference between fuel consumption is that much but the 1.5l (L15A) is significantly more powerful.

You should test drive these cars first..i can only imagine how weak a 1.3L engine is. The 1.5L vtec is a nugget already.

exactly that (Y)

and like flipfire says, the 1.5L engine is already a nugget, i have friends who have the 1.3 GLI, unfortunately they find it a struggle to get up hills with the aircon on, if you plan to only do city/urban driving by yourself or +1 passenger than a GLI should be fine. However if you plan to carry more passengers, do freeway runs, have aircon on, you would be infinite times better off with a 1.5L, what's your budget atm?

Appreciate the input.
Budget will be under 8k.
But I rather not spend more if the difference isnt much.
I will be driving both before making my choice definately.

But I think power wise should be ok, its just a daily run around, and I won't be carrying many passengers in it.

and yes will be getting manual for sure.

Also v-tec doesn't bother me too much. Current have a ek4 Vti-R and hit v-tec probably once a month.
got other car for fun

If you look around an 8k budget for a decent 03" vtis is possible after negotiating.

get a GD3 1.5L v-tec, I've heard that the 1.3L is worse cos it really has to rev to pull and overall is less affective.
I've got a GD3 1.5L (2003) and im getting about 7.3L/100km (CVT also helps keeps the revs down, much more efficient :D)

Yeh my rents bought mine in 03 at 26k bought all the extras but they didnt want the stacker and body trim (we have a steep driveway and it would scrape the trim right off)

seems jazz's value changes alot depending on lotsa stuff. anyone know what their depreciation is like?

check on carsales, VTI-S seems to hold its value alot better than GLI. again there is an increased capital investment that needs to be made, however the value would always remain higher.... imagine it to be like an EG breeze compared to EG GLI.

Im sure I can find a decent early year VTi-S with my budget.

Also sure I can find a low year GLI for around 5.5 - 6k.

but every1 here is suggesting to go for a GD3, and not a GD1

GD1 vs GD3 VTi-S

1.3 vs 1.5 VTEC

No kit vs sports kit

Normal steering wheel vs Leather wrapped wheel

Blue interior vs black interior?

Lower resell value vs more in demand

Makes me sad that 22.5k goes down to 8.5k after 5 years. I thought Honda's retain resale value?

They do but this was like a lower model Honda you have to remember that. It's just like why the Mercedes A class is so cheap (but the A class isn't that great).

And yeh i reported him to DLO01 (i can never remember the name).

When my parents bought the one i have now it was 27k (Here in WA), we would be lucky to get 9k back if we sold it, so we arent selling it.
and this one isnt even vtis its just VTi CVT so yeh not that great...

hondas are dropping in value as the purchase price of a brand new one from the dealership has decreased significantly of late. I remember in the early 2000s buying a honda when you only had enough for a corolla was unthinkable, now I believe it's about the same. besides, have you seen the decline in value on euro cars :D
