Bring back drag racing! - BYP DC2 OEM K20/K24 12.6 @ 108mph * New PB

Well its been years when we had the era of quick drag cars. Many has diversify into time attack and circuit racing. I think its time to bring Honda's back into drag racing!

So we acquired a DC2 (VTI-R) chassis for this purpose. It's probably not the lightest chassis to start off with, but the car will be a use for daily duties as well so it will need to look the part.

The choice of power-plant is a K20/K24 combination. This is mated to a 6 speed Honda Accord Euro transmission which is supported by the new hasport engine mounts. I believe this is amongst the first of a few accord euro gearbox's to be used.

RBC manifold (Port Matched)
S90 70mm Throttle Body
ASP 4-1 Big Tube Headers with Megaphone + Liverpool Exhaust 3inch System
Hondata Kpro - Road tuned by me (BYP)

Estimated car output - 155 - 160kw ~

We had the opportunity to take the car out last week to the local drag strip. Car was equipped with 15inch slicks. Car weight - 1130kg with driver

There is more to come with this set-up. Car had issues with the speed sensor. Once we get that sorted, the 60ft times should start dropping

Overall, pretty pleased with the result. This motor is now moving onto a new owner and we'll be building a new motor with slightly higher compression

From looking at the ratio's there more suited for the k24 power band. Plus cheaper considering everyone is asking 2.5k-3.5k for dc5r boxes.

That's one thing i regretted, didn't take it down the 1/4mile. Once its completed again, im definitely going to give it a go

Update: New PB 12.6 @108mph 60 ft 1.787

Pretty happy with the result of the car at tonight's drag meet. The car was very consistent - 12.6 - 12.8 sec passes. Anyways, time to rip out this motor and get the newly built one in. New motor will have slightly higher compression and possibly cams.

New motor will have 09 TSX piston with a compression ratio of around 11.1. Sticking with OEM parts for now. I might be trying out a set of Billet Cams in the next coming weeks. I'll keep this thread updated

Ideally on this set-up, a type R box would better suit this combo. If it was a built k24 motor, I'll use the TSX box for the extra long gearing and mph. If your on a budget, the TSX box would be the cheaper option

benson ran a 12.3 @ 124.88 mph street tyres, street trim.

Testing out Australia's first K-swap Rotrex supercharge street registered Honda. Pleasantly happy with the result. On a base tune tune and street trim with street tyres the car ran 124.88mph's. First 3 gears are useless but yeah the MPH is looking very promising. Car is mainly set-up for circuit

Whenever i get a chance to do a final tune on the car. The ratios are simply too short for 1/4mile. I will need to get into 6th gear next time out when it gets more power and slicks. BUt if the owner wants to have another crack, then we'll be out there again in a few weeks. Ill keep this thread updated
