Hi guys,

Sorry for making a new thread but I noticed that the Genuine Honda Access Sports Pedals for the CU2 doesn't have any rubber grips on the accelerator pad:

Would this cause any issues with insurance (I thought for sports pedals to be legal they had to have rubber grips on both the accelerator and brakes)?.

I saw that on the CL9 they had rubber grips but not on the CU2.

Thanks guys,

:)

There's nothing wrong with you slipping off the accelerator. Slipping off the clutch or brakes is when there's problems

So then Hondas kit is still legal without the rubber on the accelerator?

I was just offered a cheap set which is why I am wondering.

Yeh i'd be quite confident that a dealership wouldn't sell you illegal things.

From what I have read on other posts here no rubber bits makes hem illegal. Maybe the rubber bits are color coded to the pedal?

Nope. Looks like no rubber on the accelerator, just empty holes. Noticed the Honda kit for the Civic doesn't have rubber on the acclerator too.

The CL9 set actually doesn't have rubber on the accelerator either! Whilst the brake and dead pedal (and also the clutch in the manual version) have protruding rubber grips, the accelerator has recessed black plastic dots to match the other two; hence you are actually stepping on metal. I also figure that Honda wouldn't be selling bits which were technically illegal, and I've only ever heard of people getting knocked back on roadworthies due to worn brake/clutch pedal rubbers. After all, the original accelerator pedal is just made out of hard plastic as opposed to the soft rubber used on the brake/clutch.

Guys, it's definitely ok, it's not critical if you slip off the acccelerator.

I went ahead and bought it. I paid $35 + $8 shipping, is that a good price for them?

Fk yeah. I bought strutking pedals for when i was driving a FD1. They cost me $100 or so. So 35+8 is no biggie.

I got my sports pedals today! Going to get around installing them on the weekend.

I just searched on google for the sports pedals until I found a set which was listed on an auction that expired last year. I messaged the seller if he still had them avaliable and he did, he asked me to give him an offer. I just said that if he could do the same price on the Jazz pedals ($35) he was selling I'd take it and he accepted.

Apparantly Honda gives the dealers accessories when a new model is released and the pedals were what they couldn't sell so they sold it on the cheap.

I asked if they had anymore and he said it was their last set.
