Hey guys,
A week ago as I parked my car I saw steam come out from under my bonnet... I went and had it checked out the next day and a small hose was ripped. After it got replaced it never happened again.. until now.. same thing.. I had a look at the hose that was replaced and it looked fine.. the steam was coming from somewhere else.. looks like its another hose..
why is this happening !!! twice in a week..
I dont redline my car.. I dont to burnouts or race etc..
I drive a eg4.. its got about 210km done.. is it just slowly dieing on me?
Thanks.

Change your radiator cap man.. Your old cap cant hold the pressure anymore...

Also remember it's an old car. If you open your bonnet, get a set of pliers and squeeze all your hoses you'll most likely hear a light 'crackling' sound that indicates they are worn out from heat exposure and losing their flex/strength.

+1 dougie - you have to remember that these cars are almost 20 years old
therefore hoses, bush's, belts, seals etc are all starting to get very tired

like dougie said the hoses gets disturbed once you play around with it,, so i'd be replacing hoses and clamps altogether,, pressure test cooling system after

Yep.
Replaced most if not all the hoses and clamps. Seems to be fine now.
I noticed a rattling sound coming from my distributor.. its technically brand new.. I got it replaced 2 months ago..
Yay more problems... its not like fasting is enough... dam it :( i want meat :(
Cheers guys.

Eh this car is starting to piss me off.. I put the little money I have here and there and all I get is a big f%#K YOU back.. What can you expect when you buy a car that should be in a junk yard !!
In the same month .... radiator, distributor, hoses... A/C... 1 rim gets destroyed (thanks to my dad) - The next day it was replaced soo salll gewd!
Im going to take my rims off before the engine explodes and I hit a tree... aslong as my rims are okay ill be happy.. <.<
wtb another eg
kthx
Haha fail. You are complaining because you have an old car (and therefore maintenance costs are a bit more frequent) and so now you want to buy another old car? And start the process again?
Just stick with what you got man! At least now you know that hoses and clamps are new. And all the other work you've done. etc etc. As opposed to buying another car and slowly finding the same things wrong with it all over again?

You dont know the full story soo you cant really say fail.
Not only are there a few minor fixable problems as I have mentioned above.. But one key problem. I think its been hit from behind, but at the early stages of owning this car I really didnt notice shit until I had a closer look (which I should have done when first looking at it, but didnt.. seeing as it wasnt for me).. rear bumper doesnt fit correctly, back boot door and the rear window not in line correctly..
Soo..
Worth spending money on? :S
Or is it worth getting another one which hasnt been in an accident.. and in most cases in better condition then mine..
But I do understand your point.
True, always more to the story sorry.
Damage sounds pretty bad, if you get another one make sure to swap over all your new hoses aye.

If I do manage to buy one, id like to keep this one as a daily driver and just work on the new one.
Its cool mate.
