I've recently purchased a rear window visor for my car but the seller has said that he cannot ship it to Aus because it's too big... (but the ad says posts to worldwide -_-) i can't find this item anywhere besides a few sellers in USA. Does this mean there is no way i can buy it?

Cheers

A lot of US sellers don't want to ship to Australia. The easiest thing to do is to find a few sellers selling the part you want. Then message them all with your address and ask them for a quote to ship the item to you.

Some will say they can't, others will quote you. Give it some time. Most are pretty willing to ship to you as long as you're willing to pay the charges. Don't be too shocked at some of their prices though (some will quote you something rediculous like $300 for some mirrors! And another seller will do it for $50).

Other than that, you can find companies in the US who will buy the item for you and ship it to you for a premium.

PM Red_EG4, he knows of a company you can get to ship things to you from the USA. Not exactly sure how much it would cost but as i said Red_EG4 knows and should be able to point you in the right direction if your interested. Just thought it may be worth mentioning

^^ was just about to say, organise your own courier and im sure they will be happy to work with you to get it to your front door.
FedEX would be a good option or startrek even

Yeah i sent the seller a PM this morning asking if he could use another shipping company, still waiting for a reply. He might just say no because it's too much effort

They probably CBF shipping because it's a PITA getting stuff to AUS and they're unhappy that our dollar is owning them so hard...

... and they're unhappy that our dollar is owning them so hard...

Why would they be? It just means Australians will buy more things from the states...I've hardly ever hear of a retailer unhappy to sell items....

It was a bit of a joke, the main point is it's a PITA.

Although the truth is that the more items Australians buy from the USA the more it damages our own economy, because we're supporting the USA economy by creating work for them and we're outsourcing our own demands from local providers to international ones, reducing our own production and therefore straining our own industries.

Which is why the Australian dollar is limited (intentionally) to it's maximum strength potential, to prevent us from ruining ourselves by freezing our own industries with reduced demand. If we do so our dollar will drop in value and it will become less viable to buy parts from overseas.

So...if you want parts from overseas now is a good time to buy them because our dollar won't be this strong forever :)

Yeah there's a few that are expensive and use brackets and stuff. The one i'm after is only like $100-110 and uses 3M tape. All the guys selling those won't ship to me

www.shipito.com

I've used them to ship a set of 4 wheels over from the US as well as heaps of other stuff. the ebay seller ships to these guys, they forward it on to you. you can use the calculator on their website to find exactly how much it'll cost you to get it from the US to your door. you need the package weight and dimensions.

Yeah, just use Fedex. I've had items which were 1m x 1m x 0.5m shipped to me via Fedex. The maximum weight was 150kg if I remember correctly.

I am pretty sure it's because the really can't ship it to Australia due to the size and fragility.
Because, there is a limit, and when it hits the limit the product must literally be shipped by sea. Otherwise shipping by Air costs a hell lot of money, while shipping by sea is just frustrating and takes 2-3months
