Aim:

To change fog light globes on a CL9 Honda Accord Euro

Required:

Size 3 Phillips Head Screwdriver (PH3)
H11 Light Bulbs
Torch/Light (Optional)

Steps:

Step 1:

Locate the hole in your front bumper to access the screw that holds the lamp in place.

Step 2:

Locate the phillips head screw holding the lamp in place.

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/9783/img0803r.jpg (http://img708.imageshack.us/i/img0803r.jpg/)

Step 3:

Undo the screw to within a few turns of coming out. (You gotta guess with this :P).

http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/6799/img0804a.jpg (http://img861.imageshack.us/i/img0804a.jpg/)

Once it's loose put your hand through the bumper and undo the rest with your finger tips. Don't let the screw drop, it's a real bummer to pick up.

If my fat arms and hands can get in their, so can yours! PS: EPIC REFLECTIONS!

Step 4:

Pull out the whole lamp casing, not to hard, you dont wanna break the wires!

http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/542/img0806c.jpg (http://img853.imageshack.us/i/img0806c.jpg/)

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7231/img0807d.jpg (http://img20.imageshack.us/i/img0807d.jpg/)

Step 5:

Unclip the plug from the globe.

http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/2272/img0808n.jpg (http://img814.imageshack.us/i/img0808n.jpg/)

Step 6:

Rotate the globe counter-clockwise 45 Degrees. And pull out the globe!

http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/456/img0809cy.jpg (http://img534.imageshack.us/i/img0809cy.jpg/)

http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/1451/img0810nk.jpg (http://img705.imageshack.us/i/img0810nk.jpg/)

Step 7:

Now re-assembly is just a case of completing the steps in reverse order!

When putting the lamp piece back in slot the tab into the slit. The slit is always to the outside of the car.

Other comments:

My other comments.

WWEELLLL let me start off buy saying sorry for the crappy phone pics.

I've got a couple more.

First photo is a comparison of $80+ Philips 4300K (Crystal Vision White) H11 globes (left) vs Oem fog lights.

Pure white my ass.

Quick comparison of Colours.

Note: In most cases the higher you go in kelvin rating (more blue) the less intense the light gets.

Photo of the car with Factory HID's, LED foglamps and LED parkers.

You can actually retrofit some other brands on the same slot. I'll be posting a DIY on that soon :)

From what I can tell, my fog lights look quite different on my 06 Sport due to the front lip I'm guessing. Would I have to pull the bumper off to replace my fog lamps?

Not to sure mate, This guide should work for all prefacelift models

Why don't you go have a try mate?

Never really done any work on my car so I'm a bit hesitant, but I guess I'll have to have a go

There are instructions in the Owner's Manual that show you how to replace the fog light bulbs from beneath the car. No need to remove the bumper, just need to undo the front/bottom part of the splash shield that lines the front guards.

Alternatively, if you're fairly flexible, you can actually get to them by just reaching through the front lower grille! As per the pre-facelift, you will have to unclip the plug by feel (apply pressure on the release tab on the plug and pull downwards toward the ground), then simply rotate the bulb and remove it. Takes me 5 minutes! Much less hassle than undoing the splash shield which I found was a pain in the arse.

Mate, what temp led's did you use? and also what size or type of park lights do you have?

mikey72
13-03-2012, 07:48 PM
ive put the standard ones in at the moment, but the 4300k were probably the closest to the hid's. the parkers are just a standard t5 in LED arrangement.

Hey mate thanks, are the LED Fogs ne good? Are they good as driving lights? or only good for show?

mikey72

they were good for show but without any proper brands they can be abit dodgy to buy. the ones i had were having the led's individually drop off them. probably a mixture of heat and use. they also didn't throw the light as good.

So you got the 4300k halogen bulbs now? Are those bulbs available in clear?(without the blue tip)

Hey what brand and style etc. parkers did you get?
I bought some without a kind of dispersion cover and you can quite easily see each individual LED, yours looks better.
If you could just drop the brand or whatever they are that'd be sweet :D
thanks,
Dale.

Oh, while i'm here...
I don't have fog lights but off-hand do you know if my covers come off with a screw as well?
Had a look but couldn't see any screw...
Cheers.
EDIT: Nevermind I figured it out :)
