hey guys,

just yesterday after i parked my car for about 2 hours. i came back and tried to start it up. turned the ignition key but got no signs of life whatsoever.. i kept trying to crank it but got nothing...

i thought it was the battery.. but then i tried to start it up again an hour later. first time it gave me nothing, i tried again immediately after and it jst came to life. i did however jiggle the key a little on this attempt.

Anyone know what the problem may be? and would it be an expensive repair...?

Thanks in advanced

I had a starting problem when I first had my old Prelude. It would die on me when I'd be driving which was dangerous as hell.

It turned out to be the starter motor and ignition switch.

Any updates?

Ignition switch contacts are worn. I had that problem, first with the start section, then with the IG1/2. I ran switches to replace them. By the end the key only released the steering column lock.

You can buy the wire and contact part as a replacement.

the problem still exists, however after asking around, i do believe it may be the starter motor because i get the click noise wen i turn the key for ignition... i give the starter motor a few taps with the handle of a screwdriver and then it starts most of the time. just repeated if it didnt work the first time...

replace starter motor contacts/brushes.

should cost about $15-20 from an auto electrical place
