The Accord Euro Luxury has 4500k HID's standard... i was wondering if changing to like 8000k HID would involve more then just changing the bulb?? Must the ballasts and wires be changed as well?? Can anybody enlighten me on this topic...

No you dont have to change the back end, just the bulbs, just wondering why you'd want to do that? the higher the temp the lower the light output.

can you just buy the bulbs on their own?

Of course you can, I dont think they'd expect you to shell out $1000+ everytime a bulb blew. but have different connector types for different adaptors. no use unless you have the ballast and HID wiring
From memory about the same price as a set of good quality halogen globes.

What do u mean by that?? so the higher the temperature the less light it projects on the road is that?? I though the higher the temperature the more blue/purple it goes... And also more light.. I might be wrong then...
Thanks for the info so HID bulbs can be changed to different temperatures...

Correct
Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the color temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a color temperature of approx 12,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 7000k, 7500k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual color output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output they produce.
All OEM kits are 4100k to 4300k as this colour temp has been found to be the best balance of colour and brightness. Sunlight is in this same range. Halogen is usually anything upto 3200k

Thankss for the info ABS121 very informative and useful...
But then that leads me how come merc and Bmer's use higher temperature HID's when they know that the output is less..
Guess they want their rides to be different to other rides on the road at night...

They dont, there are two major HID manufactures Phillips and Bosch, and all their OEM kits (ie factory installs) have a colour temp of 4100k to 4300k. They may look slightly blue or purplewhen viewed head on, but this has more to do with the refraction coming of the lens than the blub temp.
Either way, the Euro has one of the brightest set of lights going, there is no need to change them.

Kelvin is measure of light temperature.
Lumens or Candela is the measure of light intensity. Has no realtion with temperature.
Give you an example, daylight is around 5500K and blue sky is around 10,000K.
Personally, I reckon what's on the Euro now is great. It's white and tingles purple at times. Any more blue and it gives me the impression of rice, or those who buys those blue halogen bulbs cos it looks cool.

My friend has 12000Ks and it's purple hahahahahah Looks funny.....
I'm using normal 4300K bulbs and I think it's white enough already... I'm considering 5000K Diamond Vision though......

Nope they are not HID, just standard gas discharge...
PumZ, My friend's STi uses the Diamond Vision and it's seriously whiter and brighter than my Crystal Vision...
Mine's not too bad, but I think it has something to do with the Euro Projector style lens....

I had my standard halogens converted to 8000k HID and when I did, the guy at the shop that I bought them from said that you can't use 8000k bulbs on a ballast meant for 4500k bulbs... cuz I was thinking of upgrading to that first and change the bulb to 8000k later if necessary... but apparently it doesn't work that way.... go figure!!
Anyway, go for the 8000k. I think it will go really well with your body kit... noice!!

Henry wats ur light output on the 8000k HID... Is the road still very clear like the standard HID's on the euro?? Or is it much worse?? The standard HID's lights up the road very well...
Well if the light output is much less on a 8000k i aint gonna change it just for the bright blue/purple effect...

How can I describe it to you? MUCH MUCH brighter than standard halogens (can't compare to factory HID cuz I never had them). The linemarking on the road is virtually glowing at night and the road is lit up much much further than with any other car I've driven. Highway driving is a cruise at night cause you can see so much further... I can go on and on...
It's up to you dude... if you want good lighting without the bling factor then stick with your factory HID.
But why are we even thinking of this mod if not for the bling factor?? :p

sourced this from the autobarn web site...
both r halogen bulbs... and both have reduced light output than standard globes
Crystal Vision Performance Globes
CrystalVision is a very white light with a colour temperature of 4300K. The amount of light output is slightly less than that of a standard globe but is much whiter / bluish. Gives a definite blue appearance when you look into the headlight lens.
Diamond Vision Performance Globes
DiamondVision is the ultimate blue light with a colour temperature of 5000K. The amount of light output is reduced compared to a standard globe but provides that incredible blue/white light. Gives a strong blue appearance when you look into the headlight lens.
