hey all

i just wired a led into my thermofan circuit in my ek, so that when the fan comes on the light does too. I found out though, that when im doing over about 80ks, the fan comes on and stays on until i slow down.

i just wanna know is that normal? i thought at that speed thats when the fans wouldnt be on.

some advice on this would be awesome
thanks

That does sound odd. Is there a thermostat in the car?

Check the fan is blowing air the right direction

When you notice the LED coming on, does it flick on/off? Or does it gradually get brighter until it is full on?

im not sure if the thermostat is working properly. i had some overheating problems before, but changed the radiator out and thats all gone.
the fan is blowing properly.
the light sorta starts flickering on off and gets stronger till its fully on

cheers for the help.

I think what is happening (as indicated by the way the LED's light up) is when you're hitting 80+kph, the wind speed is simply spinning the fans, the fans will generate some electricity while being 'wind-powered' - the faster they spin, the brighter the LED gets.

lol, yeah i thought that might be it. its connected parralel to the fan. would it stop it if i had the led wired up before the fan??

is it wired directly to the fan? you need to have it wired up before the relay, so you dont get feedback from the wind turning the fan

yeah, its connected across the relay. ill change it to before the relay and give it a test this arvo.

just out of curiosity - what is the goal in doing this?
