Hi i have a cypress green civic rocking something similar to holden rims atm... i dont really dig this look. I was wondering if you guys could help suggest some rims that would go with green buttt the catch is i would like them to be dirt cheap. I was thinking just getting back to oem wheel because apparently you can get them for 200-300 hopefully with tires. But yea could you guys suggest anything that would be below 400 and pretty goood looking.

It would be great if you could help =]

If you want a nice OEM wheel like EM1 or DC2 then you'll probably need $400 or so, tyres included if you're lucky :)

i would get pre-facelift Dc2 wheels - usually u can get them for sub $300 with tyres

they look great with the more conservative colors - like green and blue
they are also some of the best weighted and handling wheels you can get from OEM honda

i have these wheels ("fat-fives") on my EG sedan with bridgestone adrenaline tyres and they do me very well

they look great on EG and EK alike

check out the WTS threads and traders section - you might find something =)

or if you wanna go hell-cheap-o, paint up some steelies =p

Supply and demand. If people want the wheel (and they always want Fat Fives and EM1's) then they'll cost money, simple.

I got the EM1's for my EH9 :)

The black ones on the eg? They're off a Jazz, saint.

Also, the wheels on that DC2, they also came on the audm vtir but only in 1997. My mate has them. IMO nicest oem wheel out.

TheSaint

iv never seen the dc2 ones in australia - we only got fat fives 94-97 than blades 97-2000

also - i cant find a single jazz on the internets with those wheels

i have found a few 7th gen civics with them tho ... sigh

I've seen quiet a few tegs with them up here in Brisbane mate. They were the interim between the blades and fat fives. Look better than both to be honest.

Not 100% sure which Jazz they came off though.

the 7th gen has something similar but a little fatter

those rims are the OPTIONAL 14" alloys for Civic and Jazz. VERY nice looking rim made by Enkei but they are only 14" :(

AUS DC2 VTiR had the 'fat-fives' in 15" but they are quote heavy.
Gen 2 CRX had a very similar fat-five design but only 14".
Late Model Integra VTiR had the 'Blades' in 15" but you dont see it a whole lot out there.
and the 'ACURA' alloys.. obviously we dont get anything ACURA here but those rims were OPTIONAL 15" for Late model integra's and civic so again not many around.
EM1 civic VTiR (Coupe) rims are really nice but quite heavy I think..
EK4 civic VTiR (hatch) rims are cool on some applications..

only go OEM if you get em for a really good price IMO.. otherwise it's a couple hundred more for replicas or add a grand for genuine.

fat fives arnt very heavy considering the specification - from memory they are one of the best performing all round honda wheel in 4x100

i would be keen to get those optional 14" jazz/civic wheels tho - they look amazing

i wonder how the drive would differ from 15" fat fives to the 14" jazz/civic optionals

i actually can't believe people think respraying stock rims to black looks cool, am i the only one who think it makes ur car looks cheap, and tacky? looks so povo-spec to me. just leave em the way they are, if anything go sand em down and try to bring em back to a nice shine. i guess if you think spraying ur wheels black or white looks cool, go do it.. i guess its about taste

in my opinion, if you can't afford nice wheels, don't spray ur oems black, leave em as they are, just dump the car, dumped on OEMs > 4WD on matt black cheap resprays.

btw the jazz rims would look better with the centre cap sprayed too. i guess im just venting/ranting on now, but i never understood the appeal with a car with so much contrast, most of the time it isn't done nicely, and isn't visually attractive. just looks like bits and pieces stuck together and cheap. have u noticed that alot of older cars have black moulds, different color indicators.... and now, newer model cars, come with nice mainly one color car, maybe only a few black inserts here and there, and just sitting on one simple nice polished set of wheels. get with the times ay? at the end of the car its a civic, its a slow car, you shouldn't try to make it look racey, your not fooling anyone....

Each to there own man, but at the end of the day, not every has cash to throw around, an another way to stand out from the crowd, is to go for a different look with another set of oem rims with different color

at the end of the day, its up to you to make that civic what it is, sure its not track buster like a Lotus Elise or 200mph Veyron, but its still a car that can be appreciated, modded tastefully, not everyone likes to drive a standard car, regardless if its a fast car or a slow as car like Vw bug, cars are cars

sorry you seem to have missed my point, "not everyone has cash to throw around", exactly, if you are going to buy a set of OEM wheels, just leave them as they are, you don't need to try and and make the best of what you got, and no one really thinks your a baller with matt black oem rims. and my other point was, how can you spray, for eg, EM1 wheels matt black, or dc2 mags matt black, and say thats tasteful.

ah - i remember when you first started asking questions like this - so your not one to start passing out judgement

and my hand built d15 will chomp ur bought accord and ur old auto prelude any day =)

i think new cars should go back to the black moulds - get with the times - they look better
theres a reason people do up old cars you know

the civic is the hot-rod of our generation

PS the honda clear coat/laquer cant always be saved if they are gutter rashed on most OEM wheels - and they almost never polish up the right way - thats why most people paint them black
but hey - they could have chosen pink green or blue ... so i wouldnt complain

people also like to add their own touch to the car - not so that it looks good to other people but so they can walk out in the morning, look at the car, and think ... aahhh i did that, by myself, with my hands
people like to build things more than they like to show off or race these days - so who cares how it comes out - as long as the owner put effort in and it looks ok to them than hey

everyone's entitled to their own opinion, as far as painting goes, if its done right, it can look good, some may argue that even respraying BBS or Rays is sacrilegious! same deal happening right here lol some like, some dont
