Hey guys,
I'm going to go check out this S2000 out today, and the guy said he has no log books:
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=10426864&ref=Item&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294965322% 204294965105%20898&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15
He said on the phone, "When I bought the car, i didnt get log books"

Should I trust this guy?
Opinions please!
Thank you :)

You can call honda with the VIN?
Would that be different to doing a REVS check?

Hey mate,
in my experience, I would definitely go check the car out. However, if he is the first owner and says he never got log books then CBF with him lol.
BUT, the kms are very low which is nice. The thing to justify this is to check for any wear and tear on the seats, floors, steering wheels and simple things like that.
Also, check things like bumper allignments, windows frame (if they are loose, ask why?... usually it means door has been resprayed hence an accident) and check rounded screws and nuts/bolts.

Most people these days don't care about their log books when they buy they car so just do a thorough check. If you are located in Sydney, I would recommend taking the car to Hanny's Performance for a check up because it's free and thorough.

And best of all... POST ON S2KI - JUST KEEPING AN EYE OUT FORUM :)
the guys on there will help you out no worries, they will know the history.
Hope that helps :)

GSi_PSi is saying it's a repairable write off!
Can you please tell me how you know that?

well if your cool about buying a car thats been written off and repaired fair enough but i think its not worth more than 18k, which is how much
it probably cost him from the auction, repaired and registered, probably even less

LOL that's the first thing you should have checked, ALWAYS.

Screw an S2k, and stick with your DC5S and mod that up.
I modded my dc5 so it felt better than an S pretty easy! should try that.

31k for a repairable write off s2k... no thanks lol. Id pay maybe half of that.

So many dodgy sellers out there, be vigilant. Always do a revs check and a thorough inspection eg. check for any non factory welds and everything is straight.

Yeah, he thinks repairable write off means nothing because the car is all sweet now. On the outside at least.
Anyways defs learnt a lesson ahahah. Always revs check first :)

30k for a repairable writeoff s2k , lol i dont think so not even maybe half of it i still need to think about that, hints when u buying a car , when the seller keep saying nothing wrong nothing wrong but with no log book is the first thing u notice the car must be something wrong , its rarely u lost it or ''car doesnt have one'' !! but there are still something good out there when they dont have a log book , but best is to check it up with a mechanic , they will pretty much tell you everything as well...

my quote when buying a car: ''pay few hundred to check it up rather then you lose big when you save the few hundred in the first place''

the reason why they dont have log books is because the insurer takes them when a vehicle is written off... so that warranty documents etc are not potentially passed on...

Its the first obvious sign of a problem vehicle...

always check REVS, because that links in with the Written Off Vehicle Register (WOVR)

I just plain wouldn't bother, not even for $10g.

Nothing sh!ts me more than somebody who says crap like 'never been in an accident' when you can pretty much slap his head off with the weight of evidence that suggests otherwise.

Try to find a seller who will be honest, tell you the issues, show you the damage, and just doesn't 'feel' dodgy. Sometimes you actually have to buy with your gut feeling too. Intuition is part of what really pushed me to buy my last two cars. The owners were decent (I still email the guy who sold me the CRX - he misses it :D) and I felt comfortable about dealing with them. And I was right about it.

You should just walk away, its clearly showing the owner isnt an honest seller :)

there are plenty of other S2000s cheaper than that any way, why bother with this one

Many people make money polishing turds and passing them off as gold.

Buying a car is an investment, you have to be picky.

Impulse buy at your own peril.

Check out Hondaone.com.au (https://www.hondaone.com.au/owner%27s+club/index.asp) - Whenever a car is serviced at a Honda Dealership - you can see what exactly was done to the car even if you have no log books. So hopefully he has servcied his car at a dealership, you can see all records.

People keep giving their useless input while not reading the whole thread. it's been shown car is a write-off , no books cause owner bought it from an auction

Good point. I don't really think there is anything more to discuss here.
