i had planned on buying a 94-96 VTi-R and i was prepared to spend up to !%k but now i realise that it will cost me somewhere like $1-5k insurance plus $50 a week fuel and other things like rego, lol if i bought the car i couldnt afford to run it. I might have to find a cheaper car to buy but i dont want to settle for a piece of shit...what should i look at ?

LOL Life is tough...

Car insurance for any car will cost you over a thousand dollars to insure if you are young and have none of that No claim bonus. Even a simple car like a pulsar, astra will cost you over a grand to insure fully comp. for someone under 25.

Any car will definitly cost you at least $50 fuel if you are considering a car that is over 1.8 engine capacity. Have you considered a HSV? they take down petrol a lot! What about a Landcruiser? a full tank of gas will cost ya $150!

Rego costs? You have to be realistic and face the costs of green slip/rego/service costs. You pay similar price ranges with other cars as well.

Owning a Honda (or other cars for that matter) definitly requres your $$$ and dedication. But in return they will make you proud and smile as you cruise around.

If you want a car that is more economical then... I'd say go for a budget small car such as Hyundai Getz, Accent, Echo.

If you are a hardcore speed freak wanting performance for a cheap price... then get a motorbike. You'll definitly kill every car off the lights for a fraction of the price.

Or just buy the darn thing and do 3rd party insurance.
