I saw a CL9 Euro Lux the other day on the road and looks like it had an HID conversion done on the fog lights. Both looks to be the same colour.

My question is,

Is it legal?
If so, has anyone done it?

Looks mighty good though....

Most likely just replacement bulbs with a whiter/blue-r colour. I just bought some M-tec 4250K bulbs to match my xenons. Haven't got them yet, but they are supposed to be quite a good match for the xenons. The standard bulb is also H11, but you can buy H9 bulbs and slightly modify them to fit. H9 bulbs are MUCH brighter than H11, about 40% from memory, for an equivalent bulb.

Do they actually help in fog though?

That's on the completely white/blue spectrum...I thought you needed yellow to help with fog?

I've got 3000k in my foggies.

No HIDs are "legal" unless it comes from the factory.

Your right, the yellower the light the better it will be. If you want the best for fog, get the JDM spec yellow fogs. Its like yellow yellow! But we don't really ever get fog in Perth, so I just wanted them for better asthetics, only use them in overcast conditions, daytime rain, country driving etc. Will see if they are any good for country night driving too, but probably won't be.

hey guys i've changed my foggies to just brighter h11 bulbs basically. the problem im having is that the bulbs keep blowing after a certain time. yes im aware that i am to install them without touching the bulb area at all and i did that. but one of the two foggies always blows out after about a month or two. any reasons/causes that could be related? eg water getting in there or something.

Proper fog lights are about 3k and normal halogen globes.

That looks more 4300K then anything.. Definitely not 12000k, not even 6000K.

HID are a bad idea for fog lights. There are 2 reason for this:
1. HID are much brighter than your halogen bulbs, and fog lights are designed for a wide but short throw. By putting HID in to your foggies, you're basically blinding drivers coming your way, which will be annoying to others and potentially dangerous for you.
2. When you do actually drive in fog, you'll find it (the fog) bloody reflective. Add in the fact that a whiter/bluer/purple light less you see less in the fog/rain compared to 3000k, and the end result is fog lights you would NOT use in the fog, as all they would do would be blind you and NOT provide any more vision.

I understand why you would though, from an aesthetic point of view. If you must, stick with 35w bulbs or consider LED. LEDs arn't as bright as HID, but then, you going to a cooler colour temp meant that you didn't really care about the extra visibility provided by your foggies in the first place, so this point is mute.

Hi, All

I'll probably feel the lash from the Moderator for possibly posting off-topic, but here goes:

Anybody from Sydney or Newcstle know how much Honda dealers charge for labour to fit genuine Accord Euro foglights.

I've been offered a kit at quite a discount and, though I used foggies once during fog in my Civic, I feel they would enhance the look of the Euro.

I did find with the Civic foglights that they filled in the dark spot between the car and the light pattern, when on low beam. Very handy for negotiating dark corners. But, we all know how magnificent are the lights on the Euro for illuminating the gutter.
