View Full Version : For those with a hardtop
... what time of the year do dust it off and fit it for the colder weather? Thinking of putting it on soon
 95% of time my HT is on, its my best security... top down is good anytime except rainy days.

I took mine off cos it's red and it's got hail damage. Otherwise, always on because I CBF taking it off and putting it back on.

Unless the storm has a name mine is off.
Actually not true. I had to run into town the other night and it was raining pretty heavy. My hardtop is suspended above my car on an electric hoist so it's a one man/5 minute job fitting it or removing it. Just popped it on for the night.

My Triumph TR8 went for 2 years with nothing more than a dust cover over it, it took 2 hours of sun & a hair drier to stretch the top back into shape for a trip to Melbourne. In 5 years the top would only have been up for a few weeks, total.
I expect the S2000 will be the same, once I knock up a dust cover for it.

My top is down 99% of the time. When it's raining and I need to go for a drive I put on the hardtop. So it only goes up when I get caught short. Hasn't seemed to shrink at all.
Not like my old Fairlady. That was a nightmare to stretch the roof back into place.

I was top down for 4yrs, even in a thunder / lightning storm once (that was sensational viewing), but now I just rock the HT for convenience sake.

Release 4 catches, attach straps to hoist, press up button.
It's hard work, but someone's gotta do it.
