I'm pretty new to modding cars, so don't know prices and all for parts. Just wondering, i called up about the Xforce twinloop axle back and it's $280 for the axle back and fitting. $260 for just the exhaust without fitting. Is this cheap or should i say worth it ?

I think 260 is a good price man... it would cost $220+postage for the muffler alone. Exhaust shops would charge at least 50+ to weld axleback piping on. Fitting can be done by yourself in 20 minutes so save yourself the money.
i never see xforce twinloops second hand

Yeah, i don't know prices of parts and all. But 280 seems cheap and they install it for me too.

Do you just want some sound or are you looking to increase power at some point down the track?

didnt know xforce made gayloops straight bolt up for eks?
$240 for xforce... search around man i think i saw a mugen twinloop catback on here go for $500.
just keep looking around.
I had one of these on my car and they sound like crap after a 1month or 2 (this was with a bpipe too)

like i said above, iv had this fake twinloop on my car b4 my apexi one and it sounded crap very ricey and farty.
the mugen twinloop (genuine one) is decent and has a very nice and deep tone to it

As 90LAN once said, Mugen makes a good twinloop, everything else is a 'gayloop' or something like that I can't remember.
If I were you I'd just keep an eye open for a good second hand one, cheap. 5Zigen or similar. That's only because you just want a bit of sound.

Ohhh, you serious. I was full excited and all. LOL, well thanks for the feed back guys. But it's just so hard looking for the axle back for an EM1. Heard the DC2 will fit onto it, but not quite sure.

if your getting an aftermarket axel back i highly doubt itll bolt up straight onto your piping.
you can also get a universal muffler for under 300 that will sound much better than the gayloop plus $50 to get it fitted on

ebay has axlebacks for 150 if you want sound but dont care the quality of it :p

This is what ebay exhaust sounds like on your civics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd711oviJBk
Dont cheap out on shit like this orelse you'll embarrass yourself. Save up and get prefab quality brand(s)
Pre-fab brands -
Mugen
J's racing
Buddyclub (stay away from spec 2)
Skunk2
5zigen
hks
Reinhard
etc etc
OR get it customed made.
Nothings wrong with customed made, want an inspiration? Yonas's EGK24A has custom made exhaust, fastest DC2R has custom made exhaust, and other top blokes have custom made exhaust. And we all know these boys barley cheapout and set out some good examples
And they sound more than lethal, + 1/2 the price compared to pre-fab exhausts. Only catch is to find a good exhaust shop that can make the make
Good luck and stay away from gayloops.

could you please explain what you mean by "pro" because i can garuntee you that the xforce twinloop is not near what a real mugen twinloop is.
as i said i had this on my car (the S10) after a month the sound went from deep with giving it a little bit of gas to fart fart fart.
and im not sure what you mean by fatty sound?

^i think he meant farty not fatty
maybe you got a dud one that screwed up superjdm :P
is it recommended that you bring in a muffler and get a reputable workshop to weld on the axleback piping? or get them to make you a custom one with their own mufflers etc? which one is cheapest?
SuperJDM.
01-05-2011, 10:59 AM
well he said they make "pro" ones so i highly doubt mine was a dud.
its up to you mate, sometimes the exhaust store doesnt stock in the one people want so they just buy their own and bring it in.
some people are just too lazy to research and find out what one suits them best so they just go in and pick one and tadaaa.
price wise it all depends mate i mean you can go into autobarn and get a $50 cannon and you can go into the exhaust place and get a $300 muffler.
it all depends what your after really. Just have to do a little research. Ill give you a example...
New Xforce Gayloops go for $240 new right? I got my New Apexi WS2 for $250 SHIPPED from USA. Replica vs Genuine JDM product price difference is $10 only difference is you wait 2 weeks for the shipping.

01-05-2011, 11:04 AM
how much did you get charged to get the apexi ws2 piping welded? and where at? im after a good workshop that does quality welding for a good price cos its too hard to find nice mufflers i want in straight bolt-on
SuperJDM.
01-05-2011, 11:13 AM
I got the Apexi WS2 welded onto a new bpipe 2.5" also got a cat welded onto the bpipe to the headers $150 including the piping and welding. He didnt do the best job but i think its good enough to last 3-4 years (lets just hope so)
place was in dandy near autobarn i dont recommend you going there lol. If you want a decent place i think they wanted $300-$400 when i rang up Dandy Exhaust and i think Daalder Exhaust is pretty decent too

which one in dandy near autobarn lol standing out the front of autobarn there are probably 5 exhaust shops in view and another 10 nearby

We have a Mugen Twin loop with Mugen 4-1 extractors, high flow cat and cat back. Its extreemly deep but very very loud. Has a great backfire pop to it. Very good performance top end. I have a small video clip I could share over msn if you need.

Xforce is getting mad hate in this thread :(. Sure, its no top of the range performance exhaust, but you'r only after a nicer sound to your daily driver so I don't know why people would expect you to buy a top of the range performance exhaust like Mugen. They are available here in Race Nation and are for sale between $220 and $240 I think and are shipped for free, but since you live in Liverpool you can probably pick it up.
I have have ahd an Xforce twinloop for nearly a year now and I will admit that when the car is cold it can tend to sound raspy, so I am looking to upgrade to something else. However, I'm running a straight pipe, if you're just looking to run the exhaust I'm guessing you'll keep your resonator which would most likely tone the raspiness down.
Its up to you mate, even though I'm over my Xforce system, I do think they are pretty good bang for buck. If you are looking to go hard out with looks, perfomance etc on this car then I would suggest saving for something better, but if you are just after a nice tone when you are driving your car then Xforce will do the trick for you.

Yes was meant to say farty.. Using an iPhone and it auto corrected..
And what I mean by pro is.. Have had my Xforce twinloop on for quite some time now and it has been all good for me.. Has a nice deep tone when normal driving and the crossover Sounds nice as well.. I've heard Mugen twin loops and it sounded much the same to me...

Or go stock exhaust with a sick CAI :D that seems to be the preference of many forum members here

i have had mugen catback, xforce s12 twinloop on custom stainless catback (current), universal muffler on custom catback, magnaflow oval barrel on custom catback and ebay canon on custom catback
the nicest of them all was the mugen - but that cost me $1550 posted back in the day
the second nicest was the xforce twinloop - its not as bad as people say - it is a little more raspy than the mugen and has a different sound but its no where near as bad as a universal or ebay muffler/canon
the only downside to the xforce twinloop is that after about 3 years they start to really drone - not fart like the ebay/universal/canon but like - they get louder and deeper - not in a good way
if i had to do it again - it would be Fujita CAI + Dc2 VTIR + Stock exhaust with Dc5-S muffler - BEST DAMN SETUP FOR HONDA SOUND EVER
and as for forums - EVERY exhaust is going to sound different on EVERY car - the only way to be sure is to buy a proper pre-fab kit from a name brand but you pay the price and they arnt so good for D-series

As far as xforce goes, its still a reputable brand, they might not sound as good, nor have the looks, but they do the job as well as any other prefab exhaust.
As for the OP question, ur better off getting a proper axle back, not a muffler. From my experience, if u do get the muffler, they will generally do a quick job of it, line up a few pipes,an weld it all up, the weld might not be the best also. And make sure u ask for a flange to be welded, or else u end up having one piece exhaust which is a bitch to take off, better off have sections of a exhaust than one piece.....At the end of the day, all they want is ur money, so ofcourse there not gonna do the best job, pay a little bit more, and maybe they do a better job.
With a axle back, all the welds are hidden, an the whole thing is painted, so it looks so much more professional, imo, pay a bit more, and go for a axle back, which is a direct bolton an a hours job to fit it :D

depends where you take it though - my mechanic did an A1 job of it - all the welds were perfect, painted, anti-rust etc, properly flanged and bolted up with all stainless quality parts
take it to autobarn and they will butcher it ... so meh
also run a good batch of autosol over the twinloop before u install it and polish it right up - it will give it a nice burnt-polished look - not tarnished stainless like most exhausts

i recently got a 2 inch full custom exhaust without resonator and with an obx twinloop muffler. Has a tiny bit of rasp in certain areas of the rev range, like 3800-4000. Costed $160 shipped to my door. Ill record a clip and post it on here, might help u decide if you want to buy a copy or save for the real deal.
