View Full Version : New tyres
I have a Civic Vtir coupe with stock wheels, i was just wondering what are some of the best replacement tyres on the market. my tyres are getting worn so, sometime soon i'll have to get a set of new ones (remember it's stock wheels 15x6). thanks for your suggestions fellas.
Bridgestone G3s 195/50 15
$120 each fitted and balanced at Bridgestone Blacktown
for EM1 i stock is 195/55 so u might want to go same size or 205/50 but either one will cost u more then $120 each ... coz they r OEM size... $120 is for non-OEM size like wat chi said 195/50
195/55 ones would be bout $160 mark
195/55 ones would be bout $160 mark
yes.. thats da standard tyre size for em1...

if you are changing tyres then go for 205/50...
i like G3's and michelin preceda's in this price and handling category.

gIII there pretty good
so that's the best? and does a 205/50 fit on my stock wheel? what advantage would i have over the stock size of 195/55??

would an advantage be a slightly wider tyre (better grip) and lower profile compared to 55?
what is the limit for tyre width for a rim? say like ian he has a stock 15x6 rim
(6 inches = 152.4mm approx), of course some of the width of the tyre will stick outside of the rim width - hope that makes sense

Hi Ian,
I had the same problem when replacing my original set, I put on a set of Falken GRB MFS 195/55/15 and they were great. The next set I put on were B/Stone G111 and had them taken of after 20kms as they were to soft and felt like a gradpa's car, I replaced them with Falken ST115 also 195/55/15 these have been great but not as good as the original GRB's.
I like a firm riding tyre as I drive on 18's all week with my work car, I like the Civic to handle when I drive it and lots of tyre's are for comfort not for cornering and taking rounabouts quick.
If I was to make a choice again now it would prob be Yokohama A539 but not sure about the size's they come in.
Best of luck.
Steve
