Hi guys just wondering if these nuts can be used on the stock alloys?

nope wont work

the stockies are spherical seated, and the aftermarket nuts will be conical

So basically, rather than the full seat being in contact, only a small patch will be.

I personally hate d1 nuts but they came with the car. Can I buy a standard style set of nuts from autobahn, repco etc?

Call up a wheel/tyre shop? They'll charge something like $2 a nut. Just tell them the size (12x1.5) and the nut seating pattern.

Personally, i have 3 sets of nuts. One for stock wheels, one set of conical for aftermarket wheels and one allen key lock nut set for the weird wheels with skinny ass nut holes.

Does it matter if the nuts are from steel wheels? I have a set of yaris nuts here though the thread may be wrong

Yaris I believe has a 12x1.5 nut as well so they should fit. I know honda uses spherical seating pattern so just check the two match up. Put your finger in the hole and move it in a circular motion ;)

Its not recommended to use aftermarket nuts on stock alloy wheels as the nuts seating patterns are different and it does pose a high risk to yourself and other drivers. your call man.

wierd - i found the D1 seating position to be very close to the mounting seats in my fat fives ... mebe the alloys are worn or something? they go on pretty tight with wheel nut lube

Haha at above comment ^^. I've heard using wheel nuts from steel wheels on alloy wheels is illegal and dangerous? Bad idea using yaris steel nuts on eg vti rims? One of my friends got defected for this. I'm guessing it has something to do with heat expansion?

I don't know if this applies to all stock alloys, but when i went from steelies to fat fives, i reused the same nuts. Fat fives don't use a conical seating pattern. I'm fairly sure thesaint is running the wrong nuts...

Just went down to the tyre shop now. The rays nuts fit fine on the eg vti's apparently so I'm happy.

ur probably right but i had a good look at the seating pattern (off the car) when i put them on and they fit pretty snug
iv been using them for over 12months and every time i have taken them off to work on the car they have been tighter than hell
