View Full Version : Oil leak causing clutch slippage?

My clutch is getting on now, it's ok when the car is warmed up but when it's cold it seems to slip and disengage roughly for the 1st few gear changes. The recent cold weather has seemed to make it just a tad worse. When it's warm it seems fine with no slippage.

I've noticed oil seepage from the clutch area, I'm guessing rear main seal. Could this seepage be causing these symptoms rather than just an old clutch?

cold start hobble is normal for a old worn clutch. Doubt the leak is causing the issue.

I replaced clutch master 30,000kms ago.

Might have a look just in case, but sounds like what Benn says.

If the clutch last til the end of the year I'll be happy.

yer ben is probably right...
pretty sure hes been round the block a couple hundred times hence all his little jellybeans..
was just going to say maybe you should look out for the master cylinder...
but looks like you have already taken car of that. :)

Yes Benn is right most of the time, with only a few exceptions. Still, he does a good job educating the noob masses ;)

But thanks for the input anyways DCZ 18C =D
