Just took delivery of my blue Euro on Monday. Very satisfied with it indeed. The car is available for pickup much earlier than expected. I only waited for like 10 days when I was told I had to wait for 3 weeks.
Now I am going to get it tinted. Does any body in the Brisbane area know any good place to do window tinting for the Euro?

Why didn't you just get the dealer to organise the tint? I just got my dealer to throw Ming tints on, looks good and blocks out 99 percent of UV rays ;)

Because they would rip you off for it.
If you just ask the dealer where they normally get their cars done, ask how much they charge, then decline it. After you collect your car, go to the same place and get a price for yourself. You'll be shocked how much cheaper it is for the exact same tint.

Hell no! my dealer wanted $600 or $650 or something stupid for tint. They also said that scratches on the inside was bullshit and no felt was needed.
my view, get tint done your self and make sure they put felt on the inside of the door. Scratched tint looks shithouse.

the felt thing is true.
I got my dealer to organise the tint, but screwed em for pricing. only so I can point the finger at them if anything goes wrong, they cant turn around and wipe their hands of it. I feal I I organised it my self then the window tint place would blame Honda and vice versa
cheep insurance, get your dealer to organise it. IMO

Totally agree! I got mine done with the dealer, after about two weeks, I got a straight line on the tint on both driver and passanger side. Took it back to the dealer, they couldnt do anything about it, they told me that it can happen in Accord, no garauntees my friend, not their fault! Pissed me off big time, so I just had to fix it myself. Live an Learn! :thumbdwn:

Hello guys, thanks for your input.
Yea...the dealer didn't want to cut the price of the tinting. I was quoted $450 at one dealer and $495 at the dealer I bought the car from! What a rip off! When I haggled and haggled and finally got a good price on the car, there poped in an aftermarket sales who tried to sell me paint protection, rust protection, sound deadening and also window tinting and she asked for $1600! I may do it if that's $500. Then of course I refused her offer politely.
Do you guys know what would be a reasonable price for good window tinting? I find that most tinting places askes for around 250-300.

Yeah thats a reasonable price.. Got my Illegal 05 tint for $330 with felt put on so not to scratch my tint... But took them off and put legal reflective tint for $300.... So yeah ur estimation is in the ball park...

Haven't really taken pics of the car myself after i changed to legal tint.. Changing from 05 limo tint to legal reflective tint is like changing to an aquarium... But the law is the law u have to follow it....
But here is a pic of it when i met Perth_Euro. Gives u an idea of what the reflective tint looks like... Well it kinda does...

Have u ever heard of Sungard brand of tints?? They are American... Well i got mine done from Sungard.... The tint is called DessertSmoke 40... Its clear but has a reflective silvery/mettalic tinge and its a 40 tint so its very legal...
Well Sungard and VCool come from the same factory... I wanted VCool but they cost about $800-$1000 for a car to get tinted... Too expensive but VCool is one of the best tints in the world...
If u have sungard stores around where u live why don't u go their and query...

I got my tints thrown in for free along with the spoiler, it was part of the deal we arranged when I bought the car, so I wouldn't know how much they charge for it. One thing you are forgetting though is warranty, I had the same scratch issue like lots of folks are after putting in the tint, my dealership knew of the problem and retinted the front windows yesterday when I got it serviced, free of charge of course as it is part of the dealer new car warranty; they also put in a rubber seal to stop it happening again.
Now if I didn't go through the dealer to do the tints who knows if they would even honor the warranty because as far as they are concerned they didn't tint it so it wouldn't be their issue would it? It was worth it for peace of mind at any rate, no hassles it is fixed now and it didn't cost me anything! :D

tinting typically costs the dealers no more than 200 dollars per vehicle, the paint protection costs them about 200 dollars per vehicle.
buyers screw the dealers down on price so hard that they have to make a profit out of something hey?

I believe it is only a Euro problem, Honda's response to the issue is that they made the gap between the window and door trim as small as possible to reduce wind noise as much as they can! Apparently a memo was sent when the Euro's first arrived here in Australia stating that there may be issues with scratching if people added tint, of course this information wasn't passed onto customers untill the problem became more apparant and more people came back with the same issue. Bottom line is you have to make sure it is covered by your warranty, I would at least make sure that they attach the rubber seal or felt seal to prevent it from happening!

Austral are also a bunch of slackers. We gave them three chances to return our calls about the purchase of an Accord and not once did they return any of our calls. Hence we ended up buying our Accord from Southside Honda. Austral lost a sale.

Well, just for your information that Austral Honda and Southside Honda are actually under the same company. If they can't get a sale in Austral and get you to buy at Southside, the bosses are still happy.

YOu can't tell from those pics if there is felt - my felt is lower than the "outer" felt if you know what I mean. Ring up the place that did the tinting and ask them.

Hiya Guys.
I am picking up my Euro next week. I will get whoever to put rubber seal or felt seal on the inside of the doors...I do not want ANY scratches or even want take the chance if its true or not true about scratches.
In Perth, Formula ONE tint is touted as being the best..(?) 67-70% UV.
Am I choosing the right tint? The best price so far is $245 fitted. Any one know of a great place to go?
Also too, I want to get body moulding for the doors? any suggestions as to where is the best...how come nobody gets it done on the Euro? Besides changing the LOOK of the vehicle.
I appreciate any help.
Thanx

Hiya Lowenhart,
yeah it was TINT A CAR in VIC PARK...I asked what the price was about three weeks ago...she says it normally retailed for $400+ but we can do it for $245...I didn't even ask for a discount for cash or anything....it was Formula 1 TINT which is suppose to be good.
Your thoughts?

Thats a good price. Cheapest quote I could get from Tint a Car was around $300 for my gf's Jazz! The tint seems pretty good but we choose some 3M stuff over it...

$245 is good. I have formula 1 tint on my CRV and paid $275 (I got more windows)
The tint itself is fine. Personally, I would have liked darker but its the darkest legal. Formula one gives off a slight greenish hue which looks rather classy.

Hiya Guys,
I have not asked about the felt yet as I have just found out about it from this forum.
I will be asking though. I will be doing the phone jockey to ask the best price. I am pretty sure that is the price they gave me. It seemed so strange that the price dropped so dramatically and I didn't even ask for a discount yet. I may have misheard but Ill let you guys know. I also have a friend of a friend who does tinting. I wanted to get the best I could get BEFORE I saw him...see how I go.

Just wondering...
What do these scratches on the tint film look like? Do they look like a series of fine vertical lines going all the way from the top to the bottom of the window glass?
Also, does anyone know if the Euro is the only one affected or does the non-Euro widebody Accord V6 also affected?
Do they look like a series of fine vertical lines going all the way from the top to the bottom of the window glass?
Yes

its winter now so tinting places are less busy and are after business. Just ring around a few places and ask for their best price. Just tell them you have been ringing around for formula 1 tint and have been quoted $X at another tinting place. Name the actual shop as it helps when they know who the competition is.
I did this for my CRV and got $275. My initial quotes were $450, then $390, then $320. The final place I rang asked if I had previous quotes and I said yes and just made up a figure of $280. He said I will do it for $275!
Bottom line, there is huge margin in tinting. If you are willing to haggle, you will get a good price.
Thanks Bigdongers :)
The best price I got so far is $325. I hope I can get the price as yours.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hello everyone! I've just got my new 06 Graphite Euro Lux with "StreetLegal" windows tint from the dealer here in Perth
now on normal conditions I can't see any scratches etc on the tint itself but when the sun directly shines on the window I can see what looks like a curved scratch (as if due to that squegee thingy) on the tint.
Is this something that I should be worried about? The tint appears to be just fine otherwise ....... and is there any way to get rid of that scratch mark myself?

You might be able to remove a bubble in the tint but not a scratch. Go back to the tint shop as that window needs to be redone.
Either that or the window itself is scratched (my driver window was scratched on delivery- only noticed after the car was tinted. Eventually got the window replaced under warranty).

Thanks for that yfin - I might get the dealer to check it out at 1000k's - the windows don't look that bad - so I'll see how it goes!
