Figured with all the exhaust options out there I'd gather a thread together all the YouTube video's and other sound clips together of various exhaust brand and setup. Just as a reference guide.

Heres a Diagram of the CL9's OEM Exhaust System.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/silverster/Accord%20Euro/CL9_Exhaust.jpg

Now, it's known that CL9 does not have the most restrictive exhaust system around (from the cat backwards, not the header), and gain's from a cat-back is not significant, the reason is because BOTH Resonators A&B in the CL9's exhaust system are straight thru pipes.

Before I post sounds of aftermarket manufactured cat-back systems, I'll post some DIY exhaust mods on the factory system by playing around with removing resonators:

DIY/Modded Factory Exhaust

1. Factory Exhaust, 2nd resonator/premuffler removed:

2. Factory Exhaust, 1st cylindrical pre-muffler/Resonator removed

3. Factory Exhaust, Both A & B resonators removed "straight pipe" (eek!)

4. Factory Exhaust, Both A&B resonators removed, Magnaflow resonator installed.

If it's cat-back it's very easy to DIY. If it's headers it can be a but of a pain in the ass!

I've removed the mid muffler and resonator, added a bullet resonator and replaced the rear mufflers with aftermarket ones. My car sounds like an F430 at WOT.

The exhaust itself netted a 3kw atw gain.

WOT= wide open throttle.

So he's flooring it, probably up top.

actually with the way the CL9's exhaust is setup... you shouldnt get any gains at all lol!

No worries, I'll record it when I get a chance. I've got Toda headers and high flow cat too btw. The gains are all up top (around 6000rpm). I've dynoed it on dyno dynamics dyno so it's verified.

The Euro can be a very loud car if you want it to be. The stock rear mufflers (not resonator/mid muffler) go around 3 times before exiting so the stock set up is fairly restrictive.

i meant the cat back, the headers rubbish, good gains can be from that.

What is the gain if you just punch both resonator A and B? with upgraded headers and high flow cat

Anyone ever got a "Silk" or "SR*S" Exhausts?

http://www.tsxclub.com/forums/1st-gen-engine/37886-sr-s-exhaust.html
http://www.acuraexhausts.com/Silk/Custom-Fit-Exhaust/Acura-TSX-Silk-N1-Style-Exhaust-Systems-_-3171922/637343/

They appear to be exactly the same, except price, and they both look like Comptech with wider muffler tips.
Anyone with any sound/video of those would be great.

I've done that. It will rev freer but it will sound horrible.

I am making my own exhaust, in the diagram there are 2 sensors, 1 for LAF and 1 for Oxygen, LAF goes to the header yeh? and oxygen goes to the cat? what about if there is no hole to go? lol im stuck with this.

no one?

If there's no holes you might be able to use a defouler or 2 to basically plug up the sensor.

A new comer here.. but just wondering, would any of these be available for the CU2? Or would you have to get a universals muffer/go with an exhaust system already available like the Mugen or Fujitsubo? And I'm only after a cat, not a full exhaust.

Thank you

Doesn't look like it... But you can always cut and weld I guess.

Sorry to jack the thread but... so if I were say, to get a pair of catbacks, I'd get some universal ones and go to a muffler store to get them welded on? Which means, I'd have to cut off my stock ones? :o

Catback is an entire exhaust system from the cat converter backwards to the muffler tip... Soo why you need 2? Lol.

I throught you were talking about replacig the factory cat converter with a high flow aftermarket converter....

But yes you can get mufflers and have a shop build you a catback or axle back

Ahhh, I see :o My bad, was a bit confusing there. I meant the two mufflers. CU2's don't have any high flow aftermarket coverters do they? Also, any rough estimations of how much it'd cost for a shop to build me a catback exhaust?

I think any metal cat should be okay as long as the pipe is weldable I guess.

Cost of a custom catback can be anything from 500-1000+ depending on what you get

Do your exhausts hang low. Not sure if its just mine i was looking at raising it a bit but then it would hit my sway bar. Im going to lower it soon so just gonna be annoyed if it keeps scraping.

Digging up the past here!
I had a really stupid idea and i'm just wondering if anyone else beat me to it!
Have any of you tried to remove just the single rear muffler with the flange, if so, how was it?
I was keen to give it a shot just to see how it sounds then get a cheap a$$ straight pipe from the flange to stop it melting half my rear end ;)

Cheers guys!

Sounds rough. Not a bad tone tho
