hey guys i was wondering if it is safe to block off the heater hose at the head and the one at the thermostat housing with a plug instead of looping it on a b16a

hey guys i was wondering if it is safe to block off the heater hose at the head and the one at the thermostat housing with a plug instead of looping it on a b16a
This is what we do for IPRA engines,
Remove the water outlet in the the head (use a socket or ring spanner, not a shifter)
Replace water fitting with B-Series rocker shaft plug
-10mm allen drive found is 3 places on B-series vtec head - 2 cam belt end, 1 dissy end
These plugs share the same fine thread as the water outlet in the head so is/are a direct replacment that neatly solves the head side of the issue.
The part can either be canabilised from spare engines or just purchased from your local honda dealer
(There's an alloy crush washer too that should be used)

Remove water inlet from thermostat housing with hacksaw & file. Debur & plug weld (with TIG welder)

Job done, with the added bonus of being neat & factory looking

Side note: If you're a tight arse, you can use an 1/2 NPT brass plug for the thermostat housing.
(Ie: Cut, tap & plug & don't forget to use sealant on plug)

Hope that helps
