Hi guys, im in the market for s2000 AP1 for financial reason more towards 99-01 model as 02-03 are abit dearer.
What im concern is are there any common issues with make year between 99-01?
I have noticed reading on forums which are common:
1: Clutch Buzz
2: Burning Oil - I came along threads about this though id assume this is normal?
3: Timing Chain Tensioner - Clicking noise
4: Valve Adjustment - Clicking Noise
5: Diff - this is what I am really mostly concern of as i read on s2ki, alot of the time diff fail is due to people launching.
With the S2000 Major Service what sort of work is carried out? does the major service include adjusting the valve and timing chain tensioner?
I am aware of the changes from make year 02-03 such as the glass top and full red leather interior and cream interior though are there any vast improvement or changes to the drive trains, transmission, suspenion, differential or interior gadgets?
Would be much appreciated if you can clarify the above questions and what sort of pre-check should i carry out when buying a s2000 as it will be my first time inspecting one as I don't know anyone who owns and s2000 hence the question above.
