Hey guys, does anyone know if the D15 and D16 have the same mounting points for the exhaust? Cause i have to replace my muffller for a roadworthy and was thinking maybe its a good ime to just get a new exhaust. But if its only goin to fit a D15 and not a D16 then i dont think its worth it as i wanna move to EFI later on.
Also just incase anyone knows, whats an ETA for getting a custom exhaust make up in brisbane for an ED civic? If i was to get all the parts at the shop not bring any in. Probably mandrel bent as well. And then around how much would it be for just a muffler that fits on my stock exhaust.
Thanks,
Nic

pricing depends on what you want mate... if you want a $200 right price job... thats what you will get... straight pipe poking into mufflers at all different angles instead of bends, crappy exhaust brackets, if it doesn't fit here, just bend this... etc.. not to mention the absolutley hidious mig bandit welds known to man...
but... if you want quality better than CES (i'm not paying them out, they do very nice systems, but are horribly priced) at a reasonable and justified price call Extreme Custom Engineering... seriously everything Craig does is a work of art, his exhaust systems are second to NONE..
quick example of some exhaust work -

What do people think of these headers?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OBX-4-2-1-Ceramic-Headers-88-91-92-95-96-00-Honda-Civic-/190527405871?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5c517f2f#ht_3325wt_905
If i was to take this to a shop like archfield customs would they then find me the rest of the parts to make a compatible exhaust system? If so what do thse parts contain? Is it just resonator and muffler + some pipe?
Thanks, new to all this stuff.

an engineering shop like Extreme Custom Engineering, who specialises in custom fabrication, will simply get mandrel bends, straight tube, flange plates, the type of cat you want (hi-flow ceramic or metal etc), your choice of mufflers, Extreme Custom Engineering uses a wide variety of mufflers in all different sizes, the most popular being magnaflow..
then hand fabricate the exhaust to fit your exact car... as you can see with that Datto 1600 SR20 conversion, the exhaust is able to be tucked right up high, unlike many many bolt on systems that are all made from a basic jig, that 'hang' from the stock mounts and sometimes don't really fit that well at all..
ofcourse getting a custom system made, you can specify mild steel painted (heatproof black etc), or stainless steel, what type of cat, resonators, and mufflers you want, very personalised to your own taste... some like it loud and will use nothing but straight through resonators, others like a little noise, and will use offset centre mufflers (garunteed by magnaflow NOT to decrease flow, it's simply another mandrel bend inside the muffler)... etc etc..
best to call someone like Extreme Custom Engineering Craig - the owner is more than happy to give some recommendations as he has been doing custom exhausts for almost 10 years, on everything you can imagine, including hi-po turbo and NA honda's, right through to 1300hp Twin turbo V8's.. he knows what he is doing..
not to mention custom extractors he builds to specific engine requirements... DAYM THEY LOOK SEXY!! and most definitly get the most from the exhaust as possible, his designs are very similar to the ones you see on Toda Race 'headers'... Once again, everything is tailored to the engine there going on, the dia of the tube, steps (if required), angle of the merge collectors, the length of the primaries, secondaries, and merge collector tapers, even the design, 4-2-1, or 4-1 etc.. , it's pretty serious stuff... very very far from your generic cast manifold replacement $150 stainless ebay sets...

ok thnks ill keep all that in mind, i guess best thing to do is drop by his shop with the car b4 i get roadworthy and have a talk to him and decide there whether i just get a muffler put on or the whole exhaust depending on the cost's for what i want at the time.
I want it to be quite on idle but then get a but of a tone while accelerating, will have a talk to craig anyway.
As far as i can tell the D15 and D16 share the same exhaust mounting and the B16-18 amd 20 share the same. So i probably wont get anything custom until i do a B swap or if i decide i wanna turbo a D16. but then i guess i would need a different exhaust since its turbo?
Thanks for the help guys.
