Search up pre purchase inspections.

There are plenty of these services around for people who don't know how to inspect cars.

In Melbourne so I can't come - would love to otherwise, I enjoy shopping for other people's car stuff when I'm not doing my own :D

Check for leaks around all the engine hoses and for oil leaks where the components join up. Check oil is clean, check the car has proper coolant in it etc.
Check synchros when you're changing gears, no crunching or problems disengaging clutch.

Get a compression test IMO. If they want to sell the car then they should let you (you can DIY with some simple tools/research).

No squeaks, no knocking, no noises, no rubbing, no serious body damage or mismatched paint, no exhaust leaks (farting), check all electrics are working, no smoke when driving (make sure you test drive from cold, not already warmed). You get the gist. Check oil colour in dipstick and around the cap on top of engine (avoid milkshake colour). Check coolant colour in top of radiator.

B-series have common oil leaks at the VTEC solenoid seal (search here or google for pic). This oil runs down to where the head meets the block (just above engine NO. stamp). If there is oil there but none below the VTEC solenoid it could also be Cam seal (search) or head gasket (big nono).
Other common oil leaks are the rear main seal, the oil sump, and the spark plug seals. To check spark plugs remove the spark lead and look into the spark plug cavity with a torch/some light. To check for any other leaks drive the car, stop, and get down on the ground to look underneath and see if anything drops.

Check tyres, even wear, same tyres on each side (different front/back are fine).

blahblahblah list goes on

Keep in mind, some of these people will miss things, esp RACQ. Similar to Bludger's signature, if you want something done well, u gotta do it yourself.

You are in Indooroopilly right? Gimme a bell when ur going to see a car and if I'm free I can come with, view it with you and give it a mechanical inspection. I've bought and sold a few used cars, have been doing my own servicing and mods for years (anally and meticulously). I can tell you if a car is worth buying. I also know a Honda specialist shop who can go over it with a fine tooth comb if it passes our preliminary check.

0423 380 668. I like Miller Genuine Draft :P

Yea the car is very clean and completely stock. Only main things I noticed were some very slight seepage at the clutch pedal and two different tread types on the rear axle. Tyres all round are crap, I listened to them squeal on a 90 degree corner at 80km/h. The seller was in the passenger seat and didn't mind when I wound it out. Very clean inside and out. 170K on the Odo, 97CRX.

A rare buying opportunity@ the lower end of book value.

Yeah taking it to get a pre purchase inspect first. Better to be safe than sorry.

Getting it done over at Honda care.

Hoping for the best. Fingers crossed.

Also Mike he decided to get get 2 new tyre's for the rear. The same as fronts.

He said he would just include it in the price we decided on :D

Honda care? Is that my guy in East Brisbane?

I'm sure it will be fine, because I checked it :P Give the mechanic the check sheet that I filled out. As far as brakes are concerned, I think they just need to be bled.

I say leave the crappy tires, and replace them all in one go when u have the $$$.
