Hi guys,

Need some advice here, i went to test drive a 2001 S2k. I noticed when I release the accelerator and let the engine break kick in, there was like a weird gurgling sound. When I put it to neutral, the sound disppears. Is this the norm? I been driving other cars (non-s2k) but have never ever came across a sound like that.

Also, the car has an aftermarket mod of the air intake filter, and with the lid on the air filter, it was producing a loud rustling sound. I removed the lid, the sound was much softer but u could distinctively hear it.

Are these all normal for the S2k?

Lastly, how much does it cost to replace the roof to glass?

Thanks!!!

clutch buzz, happens at the lower revs. sounds of plates inside the clutch spin and grinding kinda.
He's probably using the K&N filter, dont know what's up with the sound, never heard one.

The clutch buzz is common for early model s2k's i think 1999-2001, then 2002+ was fixed? (someone may need to clarify the dates)

AND, the roof will cost you about $500-700 for a new roof. Then, installation yourself will take about 10hrs and it's a massive pain... or take it to Ferrari here on ozhonda for about $500. Or a profession for $600-1000.

Thanks! I'm based in WA but Ferrari is based in Sydney, so doesnt look likely, I'll probably try to find one that already has a glass window. Thinking of taking a trip down to Sydney to look at a few cars. Prob see how I go.

GM Millane in East Perth did mine for 800 i think. Now would be the best time to buy the glass roof from the states with the awesome FX rate.

Clutch buzz - The resonation frequency of the springs in the clutch cause the deep "Buzzing" sound. It is a widely common thing with earlier model S2000's. It was revised with a different clutch setup from factory (2002+ IIRC AP2). This is normal, how a sports car should sound like!

Does the clutch buzz affect the performance of the car or its just the buzzing sound that annoys pple?

slackzy, did GM Millane do a good job on that? Is 800 for the labor and the part? Or just the labor?

Pretty sure clutch buzz has no effect on performance, and it's purely the noise which is irritating!
