its all 'luxury' man.... i remember seeing it first time in a BMW some time ago and was wondering.. how did the Germans come up with this design mechanism? and now we also have it in our Euro... just few years later.

Well the Toyota Aurion has had it since 06 and that's on a cheaper car too!

Yes but the Aurion version is also cheap: It slides out when you don't want it...lol

BTW, the CL9 had it before Aurion.

That would be the best feature for the car ever. Will suck if you have it on heat though

Hi on CU2 Lux navi both the center console between the front seats and the glove box you can turn them on or off in the compartment on a dial and depending on the cabin temp setting either hot or cold.

Do they actually work?

As it's so cold now I usually only have the heater on and have no uses for cooling drinks atm.

To be honest I have not tried them as my iPod dock and phone are kept in the center console and Rego papers and manual are kept in the glove box !

Yes, the glovebox vent is pretty stupid. Why would I want to aircondition my logbook?

You might want to keep your camera/phone/pod/electronic things/old film type cameras cool and dry. The a/c sucks moisture out of the air.
