Hey guys,
Been lurking a while researching a few things before deciding on buying a car. Over the weekend I went to a local Honda dealer to buy a new Euro. After not being able to see one in the lot, I asked the salesman where they were and he told me that he doesn't have any, and can't even order any in! I was a little shocked by this but he explained that due to the events in Japan, all the places that make parts for Honda got damaged and they haven't been able to produce any Euros since. He had no idea when they would be able to get any more in, or when the new face lift model will come out.
I took a trip to another near by Honda dealer (the first one is a smaller dealership) and was pretty much told the same story. I was after a Black, Luxury, Manual and after he called Honda's main office was told their is none in Australia. None of the dealers could give me an ETA of when stock will be available or when the new shape will be coming out.
Was wondering if you guys any any information or indication when the face lift model will be released in Australia at all?

Why dont you go to www.carsales.com.au,as I have just checked, and various dealers have 203 new Euros available at dealerships all across Australia.
Brilliant choice, but try locate one sooner...
inflyt247
31-05-2011, 08:34 PM
I've been all through there..
There is only 1 Black, Manual, Lux in NSW and the dealer said ''it's in storage''.
If the new model is just around the corner I'll probably wait for that...
The stupid thing is Honda has a "Run out" on the Euros now, and no dealer can actually get them..

Thanks for the info 1six8, fingers crossed it's a little earlier!
The 2nd dealer had a Black Lux that was auto... If it was manual it woulda been sold! He tried to source one but pretty much said there aren't any in Australia atm.

Get an automatic...
Honda Australia have said local operations will NOT be affected by the earthquake.
All Euros are built in Japan, and the plant was closed from 11 March till 11 April, and now operating at 50 percent capacity, but production should be at 100 percent by end of the year.

NZ & Russia have it atm. EDIT: and of course Japan has it also.
JP isn't sending any to Britain or America (The Entry Luxury TSX) either as of yet :(. I'm guessing these two countries would be prioritised before Australias small market.

Derp, that's the faceliftted TSX in America. Couldn't tell without that new Grill that the Euro has.
It's just the Brits and the Aussies that miss out on the facelift for now. Other right hand drive markets have them including NZ and Japan. Remember that Japan didn't get the CU2 until 4 months after Australia when it was first realeased. But they've got the facelift now.

NZ does indeed have the face-lifted Euro already, possibly because of the smaller demand?
Only change I could discern from the sales pitch, was the integration of USB connectivity and a Bluetooth Handsfree car-kit, apart from maybe a cosmetic face-lift.

Same engine, supposedly revised gear ratios for Auto's, suspension tweaks, the rest is just cosmetic changes. How the ADM models will be specified as far as interior goodies is a wait & see, but I expect a few more than on the current model. The Mazda 6 is due for an upgrade around the same time & I believe it will have the new Direct Injection Sky Active Engine & a 6 speed Auto. Maybe even an Auto on the Diesel Models. Will be interesting to compare.

Sky active diesel.... Hmmmm 136 kw, 420nm, 4-5l per 100km... 300kg lighter than the CU2... Bring it on

According to the guys on www.tsxclub.com ,the Acura TSX in manual is very rare, and most of the sales are for the automatic models.
Manuals are very hard to come by,and often have to specially be ordered from Japan...

Managed to order and will have arriving in July a White Lux manual with a few bits and pieces added on. Was told similar things at a number of dealers from Perth to the south-west and that was only dealers with sold orders were allowed to get stock out of storage.

I actually rang up about that very same car a few weeks ago and was told it was ''in storage, as soon as I put a deposit on it a few days later I can have it... but there is a silver one here I can take a look at if I like''. My parents got the same story (and eventually got screwed over) when they brought their Lexus a month or two back. That line was all too familiar and I wasn't going to take the risk.

Or go and check out the Silver one,Raja and I both have Buran Silver, and LOVE the colour..

Good thing with silver you hardly notice the dirt/dust on it, unless you check closely.. Thats why i choose the buron silver. The color is silver during sunlight and during dull wet days the car looks like a champaign color..
inflyt247
07-06-2011, 01:31 PM

And silver would probably be my 2nd choice for colour.. I just have a thing for black cars!! And I know if I settle for silver I'll regret it as soon as the new model comes out.

Antony,
The Luxury in white with boot lip spoiler and sports grille. 6MT. Looks nice and I can't wait. Current car is an '04 Elantra Elite, 5MT and goes really well. The leather definitely sets it off which is why I had to get it this time as well. Obviously no comparison between the Hyundai and the Honda, but it served me well for 7 years.
I seriously considered a WRX Premium, and a hoot to drive, however seats I could not have lived with (I commute from Bunbury to Perth twice a week).
A BMW 320 or 325 was on the cards, however the price to option it up to the same level as the Euro was stupid. One day when I have more money than I know what to do with I will get a 2011 M3 - but that is another story!
Also looked at the Liberty GT (no fold down seats in rear), Mazda 6 TD Sport (very nice, but gearbox and drivability nowhere near the Euro - seats were a bit funny as well).
If Mazda still made them it would have been the MPS 6. Test drove one when I was buying the Hyundai, but out of my price range then. Very sad about that :(
Cheers

Yeah don't doubt the servicing costs, although on fuel my Elantra is rated at 8.5 l/100km combined and I routinely get 7.1 - 7.5. The Euro is 8.9 and with the tall gearing at the top of 6th speed I am hoping for similar figures.

inflyt247: manual on Lux or Navi models are hard to get coz dealers don't sell much of them, so you almost have to order one. I was lucky the dealer I went to have one in the colour I want, becoz it is a manual, it has been in the dealership for a few months, they were very keen to get rid of it, so I got a very good deal. so win win for both parties. hopely you can get your hand on one soon.
Info I read a while ago about the facelift model. Navi model will get active bi-xenon headlamps if I remember correctly. Luxury model will have normal HID lowbeam as before.
inflyt247
01-07-2011, 09:18 PM
Yeah that's it. Apparently Honda haven't even started to make manuals yet because 99% of the Euros they sell are autos. That's why I've decided to go the Navi (auto only).

Buran Silver is the most popular colour in Melbourne ,together with Black and Grey...but often when a car gets a facelift, the colours get freshened up to revise the look of the car.
I also love the colour,as both my previous cars were normal Silver, and I wanted a slight change.
There is now a new Silver,Blue, and Grey...only the White ,Red,and White remain the same.
azn_k3nt,I sat in the Red and Grey cars, both felt the same as mine, but I prefered the Red one,it looked so good in that colour, whereas the Grey one with the body kit looked a bit too much IMHO.

Even the new Grey and Silver are almost identical...the biggest change is from Navy to light metallic Blue.

Alabaster Silver is what they use on the Accord, CR-V, Jazz, City, Civic, Odyssey, Insight, and now on the Euro. It's not as nice as Buron Silver IMO: Just a common old silver.

So, Test drove the MY12 Euro last sunday,
My opinion: The first thing we noticed was a definite improvement in the the steering feel, more precise and lighter.
Sales rep claimed the gear ratios had been tweaked, as has the suspension. Couldnt discern a difference.
Also niose levels were supposed to be lower (not that the pre-facelift ones were noisy), this seemed the same to us (wifey was with me)
The car felt 'lighter' overall and more responsive, on discussing this with the rep, it could be due to the fact that we test drove the base version and we own the L variant about a 100kg difference (as per the rep). Definitely more fun to drive.
Inside, bluetooth (which we did'nt test) and the USB connectivity, is pretty much all thats new. The USB bit, definitley a useful addition.
Looks, good, cant say its better, but good.
Overall still a great car, that just got better. Happy driving :-)

I do love the look of the car how it is. I'm not in any sort of rush to change the wheels out.. Maybe sometime in the future I'll think about it some more.
One thing I'm surprised with is the stereo in the car. I was always reading that people seemed to hate the stereo so I had plans to change it out when I got it but after tweaking some settings I'm more than happy with it. And being able to connect my USB drive with 32gigs of my music just tops it off nicely.

I was actually thinking on the drive home from work this afternoon I wonder if they'd ever put the 3.5L V6 in one of these? A bit of a pipe dream but I'm still hoping that we may get the Accord Coupe down under though!
Got the windows tinted today and it's improved the look of the car greatly. I tried to get photos under the same conditions and times as the originals to show the darkness, but it def looks a lot darker in the photos than in real life.

Audi is a great car, but service cost may be high. One dude in OZaudi forum mention after having the car for 3yrs, its 55k service cost 1800.. he was asking people is it worth keep the car for another couple of years as anotehr prone problem they mention in A4 is the CVT transmission..

Nope, leave them as is. I quite like them, don't put Audi wannabe shiz on your car. I haven't seen another manufacturer that makes DRL's look like an Audi.
Though in saying that, due to regulations in the EU they would have to be DRL's over there....I wonder what they look like over there.
What is it 'bout the face lift CU2 that doesn't agree with you?
The CU2 facelift was better than I expected and I like it, there's only one thing which bugs me. I can't get over the pink tinge on the rear lights, if they were clear they'd contrast against your black car a lot better.
But other than slight nitpickings, superb.

Lexus service is fantastic .... they can..take your car to service..while you are in a lecture...and drive you back...or drive it to your home..or.if you want ...they even pick your car up from airport when you leave aus...and delivery it to you when you come back.....that sounds awesome...but ....will never happen for Honda..-.-....
Wow.... That easily saves you a hundred bucks on airport long term parking

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I am sorry, my bad. I meant the rear wing spoiler, wrong terminology :-(
But I will post pics if you are still keen to see the car.
Cheers

Nope, leave them as is. I quite like them, don't put Audi wannabe shiz on your car. I haven't seen another manufacturer that makes DRL's look like an Audi.
Oh, there is no way I'd change 'em to DRLs. I hate the look of cars that I see that have done it after market.. That, to me, is tacky.
if i went into detail itll just sound like im nit picking.
Oh, nit pick away! I like hearing others opinions of the car.. Good and bad.

I can't understand why some installers cut around the rear window stoplight, while other installers do the complete rear window
i agree, mine is all done on rear window

Here are some pictures of the car.
I compared it to a Calais V (six cylinder), Liberty and Mazda 6. I have an Commodore SS-V as well. The car it replaced was a 17 year old Accord Wagon (US Built).
I have previously owned a Prelude Si (Cassis Red), Accord Vti-S (White) and an Accord V6-L. So I am pleased to have a new Honda again

And the tint is completely behind the stop light (no cutting) :)

Very nice!!
I don't know why the tint doesn't cover the full rear window, I didn't ask for it to be like that. Guess that's just how the company does it. Ah well, it doesn't bother me at all.
Did you get the wing put on, or is that how it came?

Hi,
Thank you :)
I got the spoiler put on. I ordered the car with the Honda Accessories, spoiler, mud flaps and boot lining mat.
The tint was done through the dealership. They told me that they use two tinting companies. One company cuts around the stop light and the other goes in behind the stop light. They recommended the company that goes in behind the stop light as it looks better.
The salesman was a really nice guy, most helpful.

I have been looking out for the MY12 Euros in Melbourne, but have not seen any on the roads yet, although have seen lots of newly registered MY11 models.
Dealers are obviously keen to sell out of pre facelift, before selling facelift models ???

There was a few thousand dollar discount on the MY11 models during the week of the "One day a year sale". I think quite a few were sold around that time. The discount may still apply, but I am not sure.

I'm still in two minds of what to do. The only thing I would want to do is put some 20's on it and lower it slightly so it won't look like a 4x4 if I do put rims on it.
I don't really know much about the lowering of cars so I thought I would ask some advice before I go any further (maybe I should post this in the Cu2 mods thread??). As I said I don't wanna slam it, just a modest drop to make it look better with 20's on it. Can I lower it just using Pedders springs all round? My Lancer is was dropped just using Pedders springs all round and it had no problems at all, and the ride was still pretty good. Any advice would be great.

That is very, very nice. Not normally a fan of the wing type spoiler, however it suits that colour.
Congrats.

What new facelifted Euro? In Darwin, only the previous version is for sale. Got to sell that old stock before the new stuff is ordered. Oops! Honda is advertising the new facelifted model on TV. Cat's out of the bag. Old stock not moving. Need some mugs to buy old stock at full price otherwise no new stock until 2012.
