hi guys,
on monday i was involved in a accident. 4 car pile up. car1 slammed his brakes, causing me to run into him. my fault there. sigh.
car 3 hits me and car 4 hits car 3.
we all exchanged details, except rego,
i called up and got car 1's rego, i text car 3 for his rego.
car 3 text's back and with the exact following message:
"Hi Dereck, my rego is *** *** are you going to admit the accident was your fault"
now im thinking, why would it be my fault if he hit me from behind.

im gonna call up RACV soon and let them sort it out soon..
what else can i do?
i dont think im responsible for this accident.

any ideas will be great help!

Multi car pile up, you are only responsible fr the car in front of you that you run into, pure n simple.

Similar thing happened to my dad a while ago, He was a stopped at a red light and a lady crashed into one car and caused about 4-6 cars to hit the one in front of them she had to pay for all of them.
But im pretty sure at the time the insurance company told my dad that if they were moving at the time then each car would have to pay for the car infront of them
So you pay for the car you hit and the guy that hit you pays for your car.

Not if you pushed that car into another...then another etc. This can be proved as well.

Car 3 should of left enough distance between you and them incase of something like this happening.

yup this is true with my accident, 4 cars, car one stopped hard, car two braked hard too, i braked hard no contact yet then car 4 hit me, then all cars got hit, car 4 had to pay all

OUCH lucky you don't have a CFhood. I dont knwo why anyone does when i see pix like that.

Anyway, it's not you're fault to cars 3 and 4.

The only fault of yours is following too close to car 1. the idea's that you should be able to stop safely, should the vehicle in front stop very suddenly

As was said - if you hit it it's your fault. Even if they slam on your brakes it's your fault for not leaving enough distance/driving at an appropriate speed that would allow you to stop in time.

Car 3 will have to pay you, and you'll have to pay car 1.

Hope you have comprehensive mate :(

shit man, i know how you feel.
involved in an accident makes you feel awful.
like dougie said, this is where having comp. insurance really worth it.
did the airbag pop? looks like it didnt.

Also if car 3 contests your claim against him then you'll most likely have to pay your excess (if you're 3rd party insurance only) for them to represent you - this will be returned if/when you win the case.

Car 3 is an asshole. texting "Are you gonna admit fault?". I'd tell him to go fcuk himself. Some people are so rude.

I had a chick rear end me when i had just bought my em1. I was stationary waiting at traffic lights. She said she didn't wanna lose her rating one and wanted to do outside insurance. She then went on to say that I would probably have to go to her neigbourhood to get it fixed. When I got a quote from my repairer, she said it was outrageously expensive and hung up on me. Of course, then I called my insurance and got them to deal with it. No excess, my choice of repairer, so was all good in the end. But what a ho she was.

She said she didn't wanna lose her rating one

LOL and like it was up to you? She should have been paying attention and leaving better spacing.

"Rating 1 For Life" what a joke.

out of curiousity. did you hit that car then the car 3 hit you ? or as you braked car 3 hit you right before hitting into car 1 ?
