hey all im looking at buying new rims for my 1987 honda accord.im looking at 17s ive had 17s on befor but had scrubbing issues but not with the guards im wondering is it possible to have 17s on the car without scrubbing from the wheel brace that is attached to the springs on the rear.i could put 16s on there but for the same price as 16s are alot harder to find id rather the look of 17s. any help would be great im ringing around but getten differnt answers from everyone. the 17s i had one wernt fitted propley to the car when i had them and they were a wide tyre they should be able to fit a thinner wheel? thanks for looking cheers boys and girls :)

If i remember 14's are the stock size for the 87 accord(i had one and i miss it), 16's may be a better option due to the 2" rule.

There is no 2" rule.
You can have +/- 15mm to your rolling diameter.
This is why 4x4s with 17s, can run 22s/24s with no legal issues.
Reasoning is firstly, it puts your Speedo out of whack.
And secondly if the wheels are much larger, your brakes in general are less effective (And your ABS system isn't happy about it either)
There is a good arguement between clamping pressure and traction to the ground (27" tyres standard on my Zook vs 33" MTZs.. The MTZs with the 6" larger rolling diameter stop on a dime!)
But it's the law, so it's irrelevant.. You need it engineered to prove it's safe.

Surely 205's should fit on your 17s? What width? Generally they're 17x7 or 17x7.5.. But you can get 17x6.5 and run some 195s and you should be sweet?
