Looking for some advice…

Great Western Honda in Kingswood have quoted my fiance $538 for the 60k service. This seems astronomically high. It's actually more than I paid for my GTI's @ 60K, although I bought along the fluids. They say it's a standard $349 for the 60K service, but that it needs new brake pads on the rear and that'll cost $66 in labour and some $113 or so for the pads.

Anybody know the average hourly rate at dealership service departments? Considering the car is already on the hoist, taking the 2 rear wheels off and swapping out the pads can't be that big a deal.

Even the $349 flat rate for the 60K sounds excessive.

Does anyone else agree that this is high or has everyone found this to be standard?

Anyone have a better Honda tech in the Penrith area?

Also, we were told there has been a recall on some kind of spring within the engine. I heard this through my fiance, so she couldn't elaborate. Can anybody share a link with an ongoing thread about this supposed recall?

Thanks.

Rear pads at 60K ????

This doesn't sound right, unless you drive with the hand brake on ( which I've done a couple of times !!! )

Thats a bit expensive. Is it disc brake pads or drum shoes?

Is it still under warranty? If its not go to Hannies in Smithfield, they are honda specialists.

the 60k and 80k service's are larger services. i am pretty sure they pull the tappet and check the valve clearence. Getting that off is a bit of a job, (obviously, the intake has to come off)

what they have quoted u seems about right, a set of gen pads for a GD from honda in QLD, (last time i bought them off the street)m cost me $140. i have used an aftermarket set but, they were more aggressive, and only lasted >30K.

$66 an hour is about right for labour too BTW... i charge $110hr minimum for onsite IT work

$110/min! wtf???

Either way at the end of the day you need a service and what are u gonna do argue with em, they say its that and its that.
unless you want to let someone else do it, but that wont look great on the history imo.
