they use gearbox oil in power steering systems? if I were you I'd contact the VACC equivalent up there and let them know....that is bullshit....I hope they didn't sting you for the repair on the seals & rack? if so I'd ream them sideways for their f-up...:thumbdwn:

I know for my sister's Corolla and many other cars, ATF is recommended for the PS.

For Hondas, go the original fluid from the dealer or nothing!

Yes, if you look at power steering fluid bein sold these days, tranny fluid is the same as the power steering fluid... i just found this out when buying power steering fluid fro my mum's old toyota...
But I would recommend sticking with Honda fluids for Honda cars...

funny this came up, i just bought some OEM P/S Fluid yday.

I went to a wrecker here in melb just down the road as they stock OEM honda fluids for same price as dealers.
They had a PENRITH or something like that P/S Fluid ... which on the back said in big red writing "DO NOT USE ON VEHICLES WITH ....(somethin forgot).... POWER STEERING SYSTEMS SUCH AS HONDA"
and they're trying to offload that at a Honda-Wrecker...
Smart move, everyone will come back with busted racks...

OEM is the only way!

every 50 000kms, you undo the low pressure oil tube from the pump and route it to a catch can, breifly run the engine and turn the wheel lock to lock. most oil get pumped out into your catch can, turn engine off, then you fill the power stearing up start engine do the same, tun engine off and fill power stearing resivour for the last time.
you should use about 800ml to a liter
