Hey guys, need to get all my oils and fluids changed and was wondering what mechanics you guys go to or can recommend me that do a good job with decent prices.

Btw I'm located in cbd so somewhere close would be great but wouldn't mind traveling but not too far lol.

Deddy @ Top one.

Deddy @ Top one.

He may be good, but I was wondering... for just fluid changes and such, is it really necessary to go somewhere which costs a fair bit, relative to others.
For my car, I take my car to Hanny's Performance for just the simple fluid change because of their cheap prices. I've gotten to know the main mechanic there and he's always taking care of me now for these services/fluid changes.

All other bolt on mods etc, DIY, otherwise things like a FD, I think Top One would then need a call.

Hey dlai, how much do they charge you for a service? Ive heard hannys use OEM fluids, is this true?

they use OEM (which is awesome) for all the fluids, except with the engine oil, you can choose between Castrol 5w-30 and OEM.
I think the price should be around $250-300.
Price beats most places, as I've taken it to Toda before, and I was charged $500. lol

Yeah hanny loves OEM, i brought all my own oils, and was charged 80 for labour, for tranny, engine, oil filter plus they topped up on coolant for me.

hannys is in smithfield, so it might be a trek for you, top one would be closer to you. TBH if i was closer to them i would go there aswell.

$250-300 to change ALL fluids? That sounds pretty decent! OEM FTW haha :)

I'll give them a call on Monday for a quote. It's probably gonna take me an hour and a half just to get there lol.

if you book ahead you would get it changed straight away, they dont take long either, either sit there and have a coffee or walk to maccas which is across the street

Topone is very reasonable in pricing and they know hondas inside and out. Atleast Dedy installs and encourages mods, oh and you can drive up the driveway without losing your front bar.

Thanks guys for all your help. I'm leaning more towards hannys only because they use OEM fluids and that's what im after.

hahahha.. agree with this 100%. Hanny's don't like modded cars and the driveway is like a mountain.

Yeah, I had a talk to one of the older guys and they kept telling me how good it was that I have kept my car stock. But seriously that driveway, the amount times I've scrapped through there...

Only suggested as he lived in the CBD. Top one is in arncliff, which is alot closer the hanny's. OEM fluids are ok, but for the price i would rather get full synthetic oils.

You might be looking at a pricey service for the 80k, when I talked to the mechanic you have to replace your fuel filter every 80k (even though the manual says 40k according to him) plus I got all my oils changed = $350 or something like that

buy a fuel filter from jdmconcept for $80 or something, and do it yourself! DIY.
saves money :D

Give whoever told you that a slap around the head. The S2000 doesn't have a timing belt. It has a chain, and doesn't need to be replaced periodically.

As to the fuel filter, it is not an inline filter but a bag on the inlet of the fuel pump. I don't believe it needs to be replaced periodically either, but I may be wrong on this. Either way, I won't be paying $80 for one.

Pretty sure s2000's use a timing chain, not belt, so need to change yet :)

What do you plan on doing exactly?
If it's adding mods, maybe try DIY?

If you have a fuel leak you wouldn't smell it from the exhaust.

I suspect you're running rich.

MrJohn, not much point in saying somewhere is 'soo farr' if you don't state where you are. Top One is in Sydney, and your profile says you're in Sydney too. Anyone would think this was a big place. ;)

I'd assume Honda MTF. I've heard they do everything by the book. Maybe ask them though.

You're due for a change. ;)

For normal conditions the recommended change interval for the transmission fluid is 144,000Km or 6 years. The diff is 48,000Km/2years.

But for the kinda driving we bought the S for it's a bit shorter. 48,000Km/2yrs tranny and 24,000Km/1 year for the diff.

Ahh lol sorry forgot to mention that I changed the gear oil bout 1 year ago - approx 8000k's ago and diff oil was changed when i had it rebuilt - about the same time.

I thougt i should do it on an annual basis haha.

Cheers mateyyyy

no?, MTF is for the transmission isn't it.
They use Honda oem gl-5 oil or Elf oil equivalent
Last time I was there, (1 month ago) I decided to try the Elf oil.
