Civics seem to be the best honda for tuning with tons of aftermarket stuff available, i wanted to buy a 4th gen prelude, than i decided i mite get another 3rd gen, But ever since i saw that SiR 1989 Civic on presteige... dam that thing is hot, b16a 119kw too i beleive? That would perform pritty dam nice.

What is the adverage price these things go for, i was kinda suprised how expensive it was for the year... Can you get them at a reasonable price... already landed? Would it out perform a 3rd gen prelude? Because its definetly more simple with less things to go wrong, no sunroof, no 4ws etc.

i can import for ya if you are living in SA
but i think it's slower than the 3rd gen lude mate.....coz it's 2.0L engine...

I think you underestimate the power of a 1.6 DOHC VTEC.
Once the cam profile shifts, you can say goodbye to your 2.0 litres.

My friend with a JDM 2.2 DOHC VTEC struggles to beat me, 2.0 litre non-vtec isnt anything for a b16a.

I went to a recent prelude dyno day, these cars were making... 60/70 atw on the dyno with i/e. Nothing great

Prelude is something more for style, Civic Sir is more for performance :D

case in point, lighter chassis = more potent engine (be it the b16a, b18c or h22a for that matter) and you got something of a killer on your hands...

EF9 SiR Civics have a big weight penalty - they weigh 1030 kilos with sunroof. They are expensive because they are a bit of a cult car in Japan - and the Yanks are starting to import them too. Well worth it though IMO - after owneing one for over 4 years. Don't expect a turbo or V8 beater - expect a good city car that be pushed to it's redline and be fun.

They're fun little nippy cars to drive and can keep up with most stock performance cars (ie S14/s15 200sx and alike) You can have a lot of fun however as much as i love mine I do bitch about its lack of on tap power... A LOT!!! Like i said you CAN beat a stock S14 (mum owning one) but the S14 is a lot nicer to drive with its on tap easy power low down... something I miss in the civic.

NB you must forget about turbo lag in that refference, dont include any modded S14s 1. they make bucketloads more power and will rape an SiR then,
2. The lag is a bitch and they're no longer as "drivable" as they were and tend to be less "driveable" than the civic.
